Explain the "long time: no" part.
Because I think this is not true or at least can be misunderstood.

Was the event "not beneficial" in the long run... meaning: it was "bad" and did damage... or do you mean "it was neither good nor bad, had no effect"?

Personally, I'd say the Omicron Events were a nice little boost of activity. Countless opportunities came up, for example the Omicronkorps of the Rheinwehr. Especially after Rheinland Military becomming an unofficial faction due to activity issues. It was a good lil' revival.

I have to agree though, that on the long run, this event will be but a sidenote on some page. BUT it was an excellent example of how these Events should look like! It was previously mentioned, the dynamic gameplay, it was fantastic. And the Admins get to do what they like to do best: Sanction people Tongue

All in all i'd say, the Event was less of a benefit for the Server, than for the community!

You know if people were knowledgeable about rules and not stupid then the sanctions wouldn't be so bad.
I dont believe that these events are the cause for sanctions. The unknowledgeable people are that got interested in the event.

^ Agreed , don't blame Event for more sanctions . General un-literacy or not familiarity with rules are cause of most sanction ( besides troll , rage and so on behavior ) , it was more sanction in Event just because there are more people on one place , more evidence taken and more Moderators/Administrator monitoring it .

I generally found it fun, I hope more events like this keep the server in high population.

This only strengthens the idea that we need Game Masters that execute and force these kind of events on all areas of the server. Even two or three at the same time. This way it's dynamic, it's fun and yes, there was sanctions because it was the first that happened and it happened spontaneously without supervision at first. After Alley took over, it went rather well and good. So i believe that if events like this are created, the GM and the people in it will have a keener eye not to repeat the mistakes that this spontaneous event had.

For me it means that now that we are past the activity-boost, cash-boost and unrestricted roleplay the whole community will split into two when coming to argue how it'll continue. Half of us gonna say screw insignificant space hermits, Core shown what they can, Iridium gets off of Fp11 and will be sold on Yaren now, etc, the other half gonna say Core is not a mini-house, even just a wannabe at that and can't just shrug off Zoners like insignificant folks they are completely independent from because either they aren't or it grants precedent for future factions reking Zoners whenever they want and Zoners will soon disappear if admins give into this. As the result of staff rolling with player decisions like never before, the community will soon become the battleground of this arguement like never before, because that's how we roll.

Or maybe I'm exaggerating, but I can foresee the whole ending up like how Spazzy forecasted: drama becomes so big and people so sour that nobody gonna like this mess anymore and it'll be inevitably retconned. Or maybe it'll just die down without said drama and without any effects at all, Core becomes red to Zoners and nothing else happens like with TAZ-Order relations until now.
