Yeah, I have ''claimed'' and am currently rehashing two of the very limited handful of dynamic commodity items we have. For events like this, I do not bother removing the items from ships before I change them, but in future events you might have them removed from your hold before they are turned into something else - usually if there are meant to be only a few of those items present and they are not buyable for the duration of the event.
Since I am making events much more frequently, it makes sense to use dynamic items for these, rather than introduce a new commodity every single time.
EDIT: To be fair, I am glad that the descriptions I give these items are interesting enough to variant a collecting in the first place.
