Just curious: I remember there was a scoreboard for trade events, is it available for this event as well?

Yes there is. It can be accessed through Player Utilities > Server Events. You can access the relevant scoreboard there.

just a question
do we have to complete the entire event to get the gates operational again?
or does the event expire some time and the gates return to normal,even if the necessary quota hasn't been meet?

The gates will become operational once you deliver all of the cargo, of course.
Though for future events the amount of JG parts will be reduced.
