no, it cannot - compromises must be made for the server capacity and the capacity of the players operating systems. - such graphics will not work - and the weapons used there are simply different in concept and modding from what we have tried.
4.85 will be like previous versions - mostly 1.0 freelancer "feeling" - that means no hundreds of missiles, no mega nukes etc. . players will not be the sort of heros you might find in some anime - but more the common guys. ( ok - the exceptional common guy that can still take a mission to kill 30 NPCs ... but he has to work more for it than to fire a single nuke to wipe out a full squadron )
i think - if you want such graphics - you can try to use the enseries or so - the dx9.dll and configuration to add dx9 effects - but forcing it would render a good deal of players unable to play the game.
they have the awesome graphics - ... but disco has the awesome playernumbers. can t really have both.

amen Jinx! nice graphic isnt everything ... and nuke wiping is bad for pvp... and if PvP noob like me (Im realy bad PvPer... they call me easy kill) say that, it must be true:laugh:

Yes it could, as we have the right people (*psst* Scots *psst*). And actually the missile effects in the second vid (the one with Sabre) are just about identical as some coming ones.
Will it fully do that... no.

look at the missile..after it launch to the space..it has a small delay between launched and fire up its rocket...
(though first reaction from testers always was "it's broken")

same here...but i 1 missile kills enemy's shield and hull at the same time!
I didn't watch it too closely, but it is possible for one missile/torp/nuke to do that yes. For some time (in development) we had nova torps blasting things in one shot like that... can't really say it was balanced much.

Looks nice, but as Jinx said - it's beyond our beloved server's capacity (if we want to retain the player count that is)
