(EDIT)Recommend me more games for PSP! - Carlos_Benitez - 01-02-2009 I don't have a PSP, but feel free to read my gripes with the DS; The Nintendo DS is great for a quick 10 minute play if you don't have many other options at that moment. However, it's selection of games is limited, with 3/4 fitting into the "seriously lame" category. Its graphics capabilities are poor at best, dwarfed by primitive consoles such as SNES (in my opinion). Its supposed to be the next step up from a gameboy, but even then I feel it lacks the same charm. The game cartridges are also the size of a camera card...which is odd given most of the games look to be designed for toddlers who would swallow the damn things. The area the DS excels in is puzzle games, which are arguably one of the few reasons this console has ever sold. If you want a pocket games console, the PSP looks to be the only option of late. If you want an electronic puzzle-book with Brain Training games, choose the DS...or better still, save upto ?80 by buying a puzzle book instead! (please note, this review is written by a Carlos who loved Pokemon Red, Yellow and Gold, but then grew out of them. This reviewer has also never understood the appeal of Final Fantasy) (EDIT)Recommend me more games for PSP! - Elvin - 01-02-2009 Well I guess no screen protectors then. To Carlos: Haha, Pokemons were a great RPG on Gameboy, no matter what people say ... And yeah, the part about game cards made my day:D (EDIT)Recommend me more games for PSP! - Elvin - 01-02-2009 So I bought the PSP... and I have to say, it IS wonderfull, really. I so far bought FF: Crisis Core and Medievil ( That brings up old, and great memories ). The shop were kinda... empty, when it comes to games, after the Christmass... (EDIT)Recommend me more games for PSP! - Carlos_Benitez - 01-03-2009 Get GTA:Liberty City Stories and GTA:Vice City Stories. I played them when they came out on PS2. They where awesome; especially Vice City due to it's already much-loved environment and additional unique gameplay aspects (business management of a new type). It's always nice to have a game transport you to some place you'd rather be (eg. Miami Beach, 1980s). It seems these days all games instead take you to dystopia or post apocalyptic futures; or worse, real life battlefields. Bluerg. (EDIT)Recommend me more games for PSP! - Lohingren - 01-03-2009 mecht, id say as a owner of a psp for well since its release, for gaming... its a complete waist of my money, Monster Hunter 1 and 2 are the only real games that have ANY kind of playability the rest are short, crap or just plain bland, especially Crisis core which i found to be a utter bismal of a game (but ofcourse it was gonna be its a spin off and Final Fantasy has become crap) Well after 10 that is. Personally, for sheer cheapness, funzies and overall beasting-ness id say DS is probably better next and only decent game for PSP i would say is Final Fantasy Dissidia (FF Beat em up style game like DBZ Tenkaichi) DS, has final fantasy 1-4 (3 and 4 being redone in 3d) which may i add where done EXACTLY the same as their 2d counterparts but with much better graphics (cant go wrong there can you) World Ends With You (another Square game) rather fast tricky to get a hang of, but by christ is there alot of ability's / skills, then we have good old Disgea DS (probably one of the best if not thee best Tactics RPG i have played ever next to Flame Emblem which again is also on the DS) and heck to be honest, my list just goes on and on, Mana Series, Final Fantasy 1-6 being re released, Chrono's being brought onto it. EVEN Ragnarok online is getting ported onto it. My, you really want to spoil my day, don't you? Seriously Final fantasy 12 is a very good game (except for Vaan, I really dislike him, heh), with a very good story... It is different from the other FF's, but that's just because people wanted more freedom and less ties. And the Crisis Core... Short?! If you said anything... but short? I again think it is a great game. And not so bad to see VII's line from eyes of secondary character. Well, either that, or I am jut too fanatical to see errors. The only thing I really dislike on on the Crisis is the fact it(s not really turn based... it was kinda... BIG disappointment for me. And the DS... well I... was scared when I saw that 85% of games are really shi... *cough* bad things for kids. The remaining 15% seems to be good and classic though. But The PSP have a great graphic, movies, radio, MP3, internet and such... that...and again, the graphic totally got me. Ah, and the fact you can download a lot of things, themes and programs is also a +. But I definitely have to get the Monster Hunters. (EDIT)Recommend me more games for PSP! - Orin - 01-03-2009 Final Fantasy: War of the Lions Said it before, I'll say it again. Get it. (EDIT)Recommend me more games for PSP! - pipboy - 01-03-2009 Strange game but VERY fun: Loco Roco. A must have, probably one of the most fun games available on PSP. (EDIT)Recommend me more games for PSP! - EverBlue - 01-03-2009 Yeah, PSP is so much better than the DS. I've had my PSP for about a year now and am so glad I got it. FF Tactics is a definite must-have. Not only is it ported from the PS1, there's a LOT of new goodies added. (Including the Dark Knight class) All the dialogue in the game has been redone, it sounds very epic. EDIT: Forgot to add that every cutscene in the PS1 version was done with in-game scenes... In the PSP version, they have some very nice animations with great voice acting. FF Crisis Core was a good choice to get. Had one of the best game endings of 2008, in my opinion. I could not put it down when I got it. The original FF1/2 are also good pick-ups. I've also picked up the Castlevania for it (Two Castlevania games, one that was only released in Japan for the first nintendo systems) which is a great game. I have a Warhammer 40k Squad based combat game. Pretty damn fun. I've got a ton of others, but my girlfriend has a DS, so we switched for a month. She has my PSP with all my games, and I have her DS with all hers. The DS is a big pile of crap. Some of these games are just N64 ports, but you're lacking an analog stick (which the PSP has) I've gotten so many bad hand cramps from just playing Mario64DS because you use the d-pad instead of an analog stick to move around. You CAN use the touchpad, but that requires a hand to hold the DS, and a hand to use the stylus.. So your jump/punch/run buttons cannot be pushed. A lot of the DS games feel really... clunky.. I dunno, it's hard to explain. Things just feel a lot smoother and more comfortable when playing the PSP as opposed to the DS. (EDIT)Recommend me more games for PSP! - Elvin - 01-03-2009 Right I was looking for the War of the Lion, but the gameshop was pretty sold out, and I was to lazy to go to another... But seems like everyone agreed that its a very good game, so I surely will get it. The Crisi core... well As I've said, I was disappointed that its not turn based, but I have to agree that the fights in reltime with the guarding, donging and backstabs are pretty good fun as well, and yeah, I'm on the start but the story seems to be good, and there are hunderths of missions... Castlevania...semms to be legenday title for sure, but I have never played it, nor I have seen it to be honest... I'll try to fix that in time. Warhammer... well I didnt even kwew there is one on PS, but all Warhammers are worthy to check for sure. |
