Off the top of my head, Lena's song was pretty bad IMO.

It's not bad, it's pretty standard europop which was rather popular then. I subjectively like it a lot more than several other winners from the recent years (cough, Jamala, cough).

Then again, discussing this objectively is actually impossible so let's not.

Not following Eurovision too much, but I have a serious question: why is Australia in Eurovision?

Their broadcasting organisation is an EBU member and has broadcast Eurovision for decades, apparently it's quite popular down there. They did participate once back in 2015 and most people thought a one-off was okay, but now this is their second return... Apparently the EBU wants to make it a global thing. Would be less weird if there was a different 'guest' country every year. :/

Israel has participated for a long time and they're technically in Asia. Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia, etc. are all partially in Europe so kind of count.

Edit: Looking at Wikipedia, apparently Morocco was in it once, in 1980.

Third, actually. First was Guy Sebastian in 2015, then Dami Im last year (she actually got like 2nd or 3rd place or something), and now Isaiah.

There's more on the subject on Wikipedia

2015 was their first year, not a return.
