Powertrading etc - Orin - 02-04-2009 This is funny. When did pirates become considerate and understanding? I must have missed the memo. Powertrading etc - Vergil - 02-05-2009 Asking someone for their cargo is the assiest move a pirate can do. Not only did they have to haul those engine components over god knows how much space, you are making them go back if they are going to RP. I really don't get why people do it, it just seems so assy. Powertrading etc - Orin - 02-05-2009 That's the RP of many a faction. Traders are supposed to be hassled by the actions of pirates. Powertrading etc - retnuh - 02-06-2009 I dont particularly enjoy trading either, it's a way to make money i RP it too make it less monotonous. if a pirate asks for my cargo i usually offer him a bribe to let me by, works most of the time, also i usually try to negotiate the price asked, if it's over 1million, it often works so long as you don't just type 800k? but RP it e.g. "i've just invested most of my credits in this new ship i cant afford such a high price, how about 800k?"etc side note: i got pirated by 2 corsair gunboats today, junker i.d.s and were RPing machines. What is the deal with that, can you negotiate with a machine? (i didn't try) Powertrading etc - Vergil - 02-08-2009 ' Wrote:That's the RP of many a faction. You either pay them 3mil, or you die. Powertrading etc - Derkylos - 02-08-2009 As far as I can see, there seems to be some "anti-traders" feel on the server. "I hate powertraders", "Traders with no RP suck", etc, etc. Look at how the server is set up. Everyone starts off with 8k credits. The reasoning behind this is fairly obvious: it prevents people making multiple characters and /givecashing to buy a capship and then pewpewing everything. However. We all know that a combat-ready, X-tagged and IDed VHF costs in the region of 20-25 mill. We also know that mission spam is not the best way to get cash for two reasons: 1) Mission spam lags the server, and 2) (related to 1) NPCs pull off insane maneuvers when the server lags, making them all but impossible to hit for us bad shots. Ergo, this leads us to the conclusion that the best way to make money is to trade (arms dealing, while immensely profitable, is nearly impossible to get into, thanks to the fact that, unless you camp, none of the wrecks are lootable). I have a trader. It funds all my characters. Rarely will I set up a character without buying at least a universal MK 8 upgrade (ie: 15 mill). This requires at least 2 full circuits of my trade route. By the time I am halfway into the first circuit, I am bored of a constant stream of f3, f3, f3, f3. Spamming the system chat with ideologies and other drivel gets old after the first few times, so, most of the time I am silent. Does this make me a powertrader? I aim to make the most cash in the shortest time possible. I encounter as few people as possible while doing it (losing 4 mill (2 pirates asking for 2 mill each) will force me to do another circuit). Sure, if I am pulled over, I will RP...but RP is not my primary objective while on that character. Making the next 25 mill to set up a new character to then conduct RP on is. Please lay off the traders...after all, we all had to trade once... Powertrading etc - swift - 02-08-2009 Just race, like me. Steal hard earned money from people who trade.:P So far, I have acquired 500 million credits in racing. Thank you, Dublin. Powertrading etc - JakeSG - 02-08-2009 Trading is boring and repetitive, but if you like a challenge, try snuggling in a Luxury Liner. Still gets boring and repetitive, but it makes you look classy. Oh, yeah, and it can obliterate a gunboat with ease. Powertrading etc - sivran - 02-09-2009 Hmm, if I ran into someone asking for 3 mil on my trader, I'd be dead, seeing as I don't even have 3 mil. I really should fix that. (obviously, I haven't done much trading, I just found myself a nice easy route with a "good-enough" profit and used it to fund some upgrades) |
