I'm using it actively for a week by now, just for the record. Organizing the faction is so much easier using Discord. Roles replace the roster every faction had a google doc for, server channels can have functions such as quick reference (RFP has the important parts of Rheinland laws in there, for example). Voice chat has better quality than Skype (not sure because it could've been an issue on my end). No stupid ads all over the program. The only thing missing is an inter-server channel for emergencies, for example. With that, it'd be perfect. RE: Skype, who still uses it? - Hubjump - 07-28-2018 (07-27-2018, 10:37 PM)Vex. RE: Skype, who still uses it? - Neonzumi - 07-28-2018 I stopped using Skype when the mandatory update hit and it started aggressively choking my CPU with a clear intent to commit 1st degree murder. RE: Skype, who still uses it? - HanCloudstone - 07-28-2018 I only have it in case my relatives want to make a Skype call. Also I have a group of friends who have their "sejm" voice chat there but I don't even remember my last visit. RE: Skype, who still uses it? - St.Denis - 07-28-2018 Why don't you just let people use what they want instead of this constant "you should all be sheep and move, because I said so" mentality? People say Discord has a better voice chat than TS, but seeing as I don't use TS, it is a mute point. "You can have a lot of Chat Rooms" - Who cares if you are not in a million Chats? "90% of people are on Discord" - Well, guess what, if 90% of people decided to jump of a cliff, I won't be one of them. "People say Skype is better than Discord, that makes me oof" - I couldn't care less if Discord is better (it is a matter of opinion), but Skype does what I want and I am happy with it, so why move? "Skype is full of Adverts" - I look at my Skype and I don't see 1 advert. At the end of the day, if people are happy with what they have, then let people be happy without the constant badgering that they should change, because you think you know better. RE: Skype, who still uses it? - -Rax- - 07-28-2018 tbh discord is much more agile and organized. Skype also gets bugged easily RE: Skype, who still uses it? - LaWey - 07-28-2018 To be honestly both programms have cons and pros. Skype has better voice, but have no community organisation instruments (logically for programm supposed for voice communication, isnt?) Discord have all what you need to organise much of spamming peoples in something readable and manageable. Voice is crap. Eat resources. (You would notice it well on laptops) Skype have his pros when you use bad connection and laptop. That why i still use it for long voice RP, when it suitable lay on bed with laptop and tell the story. Discord will show you much of bad sides regarding voice in that case. But use Skype for driving community? That torture. (especially for international, with very different timezones. In skype you will feel pain trying find something what you need in that text channel). Think it suitable only for small groups with not different consist of members. RE: Skype, who still uses it? - Banned player t202085 - 07-28-2018 Skype is still great for 1 on 1 conversations but it's much easier to organise a larger group via discord, no doubt. |
