In-RP routes for Corsair Artifact Smugglers - Hawkwings - 02-19-2009 Mythical, the point is that if a Corsair sees you docking at an Outcast base and trading in Cardi, in RP he is going to put you on a blacklist and your smuggler will probably be shot the next time he sets foot in a Corsair base. It DOESN"T MATTER that it can't really happen to you in-game. The point of RP is to play a character, and in-universe, that character does not want to be cannibalized by Corsairs. So, if you as a player, are making your character do things that a character would not actually do in-universe, then that is ooRP. You think, in-universe, a Corsair is going to care about your "business"? The only reason they don't put you on a KoS list assuming this situation, is because the players behind those characters want to RP with other people. Simply put, even smugglers have to pick sides. Han Solo got in trouble with Jabba, Malcolm Reynolds got in trouble with Patience, and yet they are both pretty much the smuggler archetype that everyone tries to imitate. In conclusion: power-smuggling because your rep sheet lets you do that is ooRP and LAME. It's ure job to catch me its my job to out run u just the same as any un lawful stopping regular traders u fail sir. And added its not illegal til u get cough. In-RP routes for Corsair Artifact Smugglers - Spear - 02-19-2009 @MythicalKaos: I have nothing againt an indie RP'd smuggler or trader, except that 95% of the smugglers and traders are indie and u have to fly for a few hours to meet a decently RP'd faction trader. I have a Junker ID for smuggling, if I'm hauling Artifacts and meet an Outcast I expect them to be peeved at me, thats a given. I guess I've been whining about the generic ID's for ages.. Military ID? What? Who? Sirus wide Military?: Pointless ID Trader ID? The go anywhere trader that can use any ship and weapon? Pirate ID? Ahh the indie pirate? Do I like him? I dont know, maybe I should kill him but to be honest hes easier to ignore. Smuggler ID? Woah pointless, a badge to admit yer a smuggler. Merc ID? Ahh the old merc that can fly up beside the Battleship Rio Grande, kill a LN and stroll on without the BS firing on him! Sweet! We play in the FL universe so players should pick a role and play it, expand on that role by all means but there has to be limits. Even an indie trader is from somewhere, has a FL background and factions that should dislike him. In space, yes, it is the job of the players to hunt you down in the same fashion as they would hunt down any enemies of their faction. However, in terms of bases and docking, if a member of a faction has observed you dealing with their enemies and/or docking on their enemies base(s), and has alerted the remainder of that faction (usually via forum posts containing screens), to then dock on that faction's base would be an OoRP act, as that faction's NPCs should surely be hostile to you, given that you are an enemy... In-RP routes for Corsair Artifact Smugglers - FraserTE - 02-19-2009 First argument ive seen all day that didnt down me good job. ok here it is. i dont like junkers simply because well to mutch junk to carry. i dont want to have a faction id because i dont wana intentionally draw attention i do enough of that on my own. as far as rp i usally do with every compitant player i come across for example a merc was in new york yesterday named Flamer. I decided to employ him he followed me every where i went for 2 hours he jumped ahead to check if it was clear he engaged lawfuls when they attempted to stop me i rped with players along the way i. Nobody is perfect im still new to the rp server i havnt been here long but i have accomplished alot i'm the kinda person who needs to learn from fresh mistakes befor i can correct them so by all means throw down the corrective criticism i welcome it. I was horrible at RP when I first arrived. Problem with being here awhile is you get opinionated lol. If the generic ID's wernt so widely used it wouldnt be an issue, but I'm afraid we just do not have enough faction ID trader and smugglers. In-RP routes for Corsair Artifact Smugglers - Zelot - 02-19-2009 It's not that you need to be in a faction, but you should put some thought into the character you are playing. Where is he from? What is his past? What jobs has he held? Who has he interacted with? How did he get to where he is today? It's not always important that other players know that kind of information, but you should, because those types of things effect what your character would do in a certain situation, and who your character would interact with. I use to have a generic trader, (I now have a IND/Interspace trader) My traders background was that he was from Kusari. Now there was nothing about the ship or name that would let anyone know it was a Kusari, so I could have easily gone trading in Bretonia, but I didnt, because it doesnt make sense. Visual comms or a simple search of my ship would have clearly shown that I was Kusari and I would have been executed or arrested in rp. While there is no way for someone to know that in game, I know it, and my character wouldnt risk his life like that, even though there is no way for someone to know that because of the game mechanics. You should do these types of things not because it's against the rules not to, or because someone says one thing or another. In the end the reason this type of play is good is because it makes the game more immerse, makes it more than just the game, it allows you to really do the things your character would do, and think the way your character would think. It makes the game more fun for you, and more fun for the people you are playing with.
