RE: [Official Event] A Cultural Exchange - Congested Transition - Amba - 06-29-2024 They're an Independent Corporate group operating outside house space and they make the same money working with their existing allies. The other option just makes them act flagrantly against their ID and existing RP imo RE: [Official Event] A Cultural Exchange - Congested Transition - Haste - 06-29-2024 They're not explicitly outlawed in Bretonia. While players may play up the Molly friendship, if it was a full-fledged alliance then IMG would logically be shot on sight by Bretonian lawfuls. I don't believe they are. IMG have to delicately balance their unlawful relations (that save them harassment from pirate groups and allow them to sneakily support them) with lawful ones to be able to function as a corporation. So, they can fly for either side, as I believe this event allows. If you want to play a more MILITANT IMG that really goes hard on the unlawful aspect, you're welcome to do so, but I would also kind of expect that to be a rare case where a House FR5 would be fully justified. The combat part only works there, yes. Both groups are miners, and though the Mollys have no true allies, the IMG probably come the closest. The IMG are Molly sympathizers, though they have chosen not to criminalize themselves within Bretonia. Like the Mollys, many IMG are former BMM employees, and both groups share a mutual and understandable hatred for the oppressive Bretonian Mining firm. As far as I'm aware Discovery has never really strayed too far from this. Like I said, if you believe violence is the path forward and that fully cutting ties with Bretonia is what IMG would do, play it out. It's not much of a stretch, and with the Hood gone IMG has less to lose, I suppose. All I'm saying is that I would personally expect Bretonian lawfuls to then want to bar IMG from entry to the House in return. I'm not saying it's outrageous. And if dealing with the Mollys is enough to get outlawed from Bretonia both they and the Junkers would have been outlawed long ago. This feels like a ridiculous double standard. RE: [Official Event] A Cultural Exchange - Congested Transition - Darius - 06-30-2024 I'll fire a Dunkirk at South Shields the zaptosecond IMG| comes to me and asks to be outlawed as I don't want to just throw that faction L after L after L. Before then, I will treat IMGs in Bretonia dealing with Mollys as mere opportunists and I encourage others to do much the same. And if dealing with the Mollys is enough to get outlawed from Bretonia both they and the Junkers would have been outlawed long ago. This feels like a ridiculous double standard. No, you're misunderstanding me. What I mean is that factions like Zoners, Junkers and the IMG make sure to skirt the lines and rub the right people's backs to stay on working terms with "everyone". The Junkers are known to be shady and probably viewed with distrust, but they're usually not hauling contraband and are useful enough to have around. The same is true for the IMG, who keep up a "veneer of legality" (if those words mean anything) in all the Houses to not be flat-out barred, while still sympathizing with, and aiding, local factions like the Mollys and Red Hessians. When the Mollys do a raid on New London's shipping traffic, however, the IMG do not join in. They're smarter than that. To me, with all that taken into account, it makes perfect sense that the IMG would pretend to be helping lawful Bretonia every couple trips while, in truth, mostly shifting Molly gold stockpiles. If only because it gives them some plausible deniability when they do get caught trying to slip through the embargo, for example. Undying loyalty to one side and just straight-up doing nothing but supporting the local terrorists freedom fighters seems much more out of character for the IMG than playing both sides and helping the Mollys without outing themselves. RE: [Official Event] A Cultural Exchange - Congested Transition - Barrier - 06-30-2024 After some discussion, we're adding a more tangible benefit to the winning House in the bid war: The corporations of that House will be able to take advantage of the lawful trade bonus for the remainder of the event. |
