Part of the fun of official factions is taking the base lore we're given by the devs or vanilla lore and expanding upon it or making it more interesting/making it your own.
Lovelace is an example of this, and I've had nothing but positive interactions with them even while being pirated by them. Good for you. Grats on the OF.
