Will there be a Template with the required items, similar to those for any other request? I feel that a lot is missing here.

TBH, this feels a lot like Extra Bureaucracy for something that should be fun and games. I am suffering from Depression and sometimes barely make it to reply to my RPs. If this is an Extensive thing, then I am not sure if I could make it for the Faction on a Quarterly Schedule. Especially when I am in a Depression Low Phase.

I think some of these Changes are really a good thing and lead to more active factions, but this last part worries me.

Sorry to hear about the mental health struggles. I know it well.

The 1ic does not specifically have to be the one that writes/publishes the report, we only ask that it's agreed upon by the faction in general and won't be contested. Rest of your questions are answered by jammi on the previous page.

There will be an additional subforum added here shortly.

The template for the reports is included in the OP of this thread:

Faction Activity Report Template Wrote:Name of Faction:
Name of Faction Leader:
Number of Active Players this Quarter:

What have you done to advance your faction’s goals this quarter?

What are your faction’s goals for the next quarter?

What have you done to drive activity and promote high quality roleplay this quarter?

How would you like your NPC faction’s story to be developed moving forward?

What roleplay, events, or activities have you done this quarter to promote this development?

Thx @jammi Still, I think that with the scope of some RP that maybe every 6 months would be better to report some Real Progress. I hope OS&C will meet the Standards Required. We mostly try to just have a fun time and are rarely involved in any Events. So I hope this lack of events will not bite us in the ass.

RE: Official Faction rework and rules update - Serpentis - 01-08-2026

Ok, that all looks amazing, well, I am a bit confused about the Kill rule, as some said, it doesn't always make sense.
BUT, as one who has Roleplayed with that rule in effect, it works.
Just got to change the perspective people used to have with being pew pewed.

But, the OF changes are amazing.
Especially letting in the OF's to have the power to alter the story line the Faction they represent will change by their roleplay.
I think I even remember people being pissed about this before, of how the players actions had no impact on the storyline, despite many factions doing amazing RP to alter things.

So, amazing changes!
Kudos

Great changes, and a big buff to Lawfuls - finally our eyes work outside of house space Big Grin

I would like to ask for some clarifications on how this is going to work. It's pretty clear cut when one side of the encounter gets killed off completely, but what if some survive?

Do they get to preserve the "memory" for the entire group, or just themselves? What if it's two different factions, say, Hessians get wiped and only Coalition survives a battle with RM?

How far back does the memory wipe go? If I go out on a trip to some fancy place, have a Character Development or deal or whatever there, then get clapped three hours later on the return trip, does my character forget all three hours? What about the other side of the meeting? Do they have to resend me the meeting notes?

Is docking with a base the "checkpoint" system, and if so, can I preserve my character's memory by just docking on a Freeport ahead of the fight? Is frequent quickdocking something you expect the players to do to save their character's memory?

RE: Official Faction rework and rules update - Kauket - 01-09-2026

I understand the basic premise of NLR, but how would it work during large scale conflicts - ie an RM battlegroup going into NY would not be something people forget - let alone media?

I suppose it would still be troublesome to let people have memory but not allow them to bring evidence, since people who log out of meta can still chase up that info.

RE: Official Faction rework and rules update - LaWey - 01-09-2026

Overall solid, most of things either return back of old practicing, either codified already working ones.

I don't fully like only one thing -

Quote:Active member is now defined. This is someone who logs at least an hour a month on their own personal faction ships. This means a player who solely uses shared ships and doesn't have any personal ships of their own, wouldn't count as an active member of the faction.

For small unlaws fleet i would rather promote people use same caps, instead of bloating their numbers.

Coalition can tell to Hessian what happend.

Quote:2. The transport sends out a system-wide message identifying their assailant before their death. The transport loses knowledge of their assailant upon being destroyed, however a 3rd party witness could contact them to provide copies of the message. The transport player can now roleplay based on provided 3rd party evidence (although the assailant will probably argue that this is circumstantial at best, unless the witness caught them red-handed).

Really feel like this rule needs more work behind its implementation before going live with it. I get the intention, but the realities of space travel in the Freelancer universe are pretty antithetical to this kind of 'rapid onset amnesia'.
