Armor is useless because everyone has an MK8 these days.
If there were different armor types, that would be one thing. Or if even a fighter's MK8 armor cost 200 million, that would also make the armor more rare (which is the entire point of having one -- if everyone has it, it becomes pointless). Take for example Cap MK8 armor which costs almost 900 million. Now that makes it a rarer occurrence. Regular MK8 for 15 million, not so much.
Of course, this is neglecting radiation and collision damage that the armor absorbs. I'm mainly focusing on PvP action here.
