Micro razor - Jinx - 07-13-2009 a shot each 5 seconds? - then the concerns go the other way round... is a single shot of maybe 1k worth mounting on a light fighter? - 1k isn t really such a big deal, not even when it fully hits the hull - not even on old vanilla fighters very much. and different torp weapon types - well, i can t say anything about it... dunno if its possible at all.. but if it was.... we might not have had to change the old 4.83 nova to the supernova so it wouldn t be mounted on VHF anymore. a counter suggestion would really be a more tactical weapon rather then raw damage. - a dumb fire missile ( gotto be a missile ) that accelerates instantly and flies fairly fast ( maybe 600 ) - equipped with almost no damage whatsoever, but a wasp like disruption at a 1 per 5 seconds refire. such a weapon could be used by light fighters tacticly without spending much thought on the ammo ( like a regular wasp ) - but it would also have a shorter range and no fire-and-forget feature. - and it wouldn t be too powerful to be abused, cause a wasp cannot really stop large ships. what i m pointing at is the balance between usefulness and too much usefulness. Micro razor - MarvinCZ - 07-13-2009 This would be useful - for low-end fighters. Forget light fighters, this is a torpedo weapon. Forget Mk.II ships altogether. The actual numbers could be adjusted for the vanilla fighters if we decided what ship level it should be balanced for. 1k isn't carved in stone, neither is refire. Micro razor - Guest - 07-13-2009 Jinx, the thing is to find the balance for it to be useful on MK I ships and useless for MK II ships...we need numbers, testing, something I am still wporking on, but a 0.3 refire rate seems more or less good for now. The damage, on the other hand, is still discused, the projectile speed will be that of a minirazor's. Micro razor - Jinx - 07-13-2009 about LF mk1 ships or also the original HF ( of lower level like baracuda ) ... to what extend are they part of the roleplay? - part of the "system" as such? i m asking that, cause - well, personally - i ignore people with recruit ID and underlevels as if they re non existant - so the question is .... what part are they about to play. i know there are a few, very few players that are flying vanilla mk1 LF / HF and try to be part of the general roleplay by either adding ranks to themselves ( cash ) or mounting a faction ID. - but for the most part.... thats not the case. furthermore, i m not really sure if "underlevels" and lowbie / newbie chars are meant to fight each other much. - in terms of ... a real patriot vs. a real bloodhound. "5.3 Characters that are level 29 and below may only be attacked if at least one of the following conditions is met: a) They do not have a civilian ID. Recruit IDs should be respected if the person is using it appropriately. b) They attack you first by draining your shields to 50% or disrupt your cruise engines. c) They are at the scene of a battle between yourself and someone else and refuse to leave when told to leave. (Civilians should leave the area when combat takes place or accept the risk of being attacked if remaining. Onlookers are fair targets.) d) Civilians who possess a CODENAME weapon may be attacked within roleplay at any level according to the piracy requirements." this rule hasn t got the "exclusion" may be attacked by another low level player. - so ... pvp among underlevels is practicly forbidden. - such a mk1 weapon only benefits very few people who choose to fly an underarmed and weak fighter while becoming a full part of the RP. with that in mind - do those ships need to be focussed on when it comes to weaponry and balance. ( yes, a few ships are part of the RP, as i said, but its a very very small minority - and with that rule in mind, we also cannot "encourage" underlevel pvp, cause its not allowed ) - or maybe i m wrong there, and there are a lot more very light ships around that take an active part ( a legal part ) in the server roleplay. - there are certainly some that take an active "vocal" part but would shield behind their low level - but these are surely not the focus of it all. Micro razor - Guest - 07-13-2009 Who said they use a Civi ID. Or fight eachother, you know how much this could be of use in missions and such? There are a LOT faction IDed underlevel players .... Micro razor - Jinx - 07-13-2009 there really are? - in vanilla mk1 ships? - i ll have to believe you, they just never come to the places i hang around. Micro razor - tansytansey - 07-13-2009 There are also those of us who fly mk1 ships for kicks. It wouldn't only be newbies and low levels using this weapon. Micro razor - Guest - 07-13-2009 New york, as a pirate, I get a LOT of Navy IDed Defenders telling me to GTFO the lane, or LPI patriots, freelancer hawks... Micro razor - MarvinCZ - 07-13-2009 Also bear in mind that we aren't talking about major "focus on mk I ships". We are discussing a single universal weapon, which means there won't be too much balancing and there are apparently people willing to do the work. Btw, if it behaves like a mini razor (same speed and similar refire), I'll probably find a good use for it as a training weapon. Micro razor - darthbeck - 07-13-2009 i dont know if its needed.... but would be fun. and that reminds me... i need to go finish making my bloodhound....- |
