TBH I'm divided about what to think of the cartel. Sometime there is great encounters with thems, sometime ones that sucks.
For example, the "meeting" that happened yesterday between buccaleto + nexx vs me + demoses started very nicely with a very interesting chat, even though we tried to offer "roleplay" opportunities (you'll be free to do what you want of this convoy that pass each 2 weeks, we can send a huge transport full of very valuable materials and you resell thems for a good price on the black market) it always ended up in a "10 mil or die" way.
Of course, IC we can't give out money like this, a sub-organisation of a big company like universal would have it's accounts watched for suspicious money transfers.
That's why it's too bad, the cartel could develop a very interesting roleplay as I heard they RP as "angry businessmens", something else than repetitive pirating in missileboats. Things like market fluctuations, doing pressures (from buccaleto's chatting, it seems the cartel has power everywhere, even in the very high branchs of liberty) or infiltrate in lawful companies. There's a lot of ideas possible.
It could be really different from the basic boring repetitive pirating and I'm sure a lot of players would like that, including me.
Who knows, I've a little of hope this could happen.

My hold is full of cruiser captains and rhineland pilots. Way ahead of you:)
The only thing I do with my TV is XBox, movies and the occasional bout of History Channel. Other then that its a 50 inch living room decoration for me.
And I did run into the ENTIRE ranks of the Cartels sitting between the new york jump gate and mohave. Struck me as kind of odd. With as many LPI and LN guys who are out there I would have figured that someone would take notice.
Just because you don't hear a peep from someone doesnt mean they arent plotting to take over the galaxy over over group chat.
