Petition: Royal Liners (And Possibly Even Luxury Liners) - Capt. Henry Morgan - 08-11-2009 I don't mind the Lux Liner being open to the public, since it's not the only heavily armed trade ship, and it's perfect for some RP's. The Royal Liner, on the other hand, is supposed to be extremely rare. Not every Tom, Dick, and Harry should be able to buy one. That having been said, I've also got this thing about adding more rules and regulations... not always a good idea. So, I'm split on this issue. It's not actually adding rules and regulations, per se...it's just moving a ship from one base to another. Yes, in a past life I was a lawyer. And fine, forget the Lux Liner. The Royal Liner is the one that pertains to me and the one I care about. Petition: Royal Liners (And Possibly Even Luxury Liners) - Unseelie - 08-11-2009 What would we do to Rliners already out there? (I've -three- (one of which is supposed to be Carina herself, btw.)) Not that I dislike the idea of making things special..but I'm not sure its worthwile. That said, money's worth. Liners cost from 190 to 230 million credits, transports cost up to 190 million credits Cruisers (thats cruisers, there, not Gunboats, but cruisers) cost between 150 and 200 million credits. Liners are more expensive than cruisers. -Transports- are often more expensive than cruisers. Military capitalships, ships of the bloody defensive line, cost less than these transports and liners. Someone please explain to me how empty space is so expensive? How have these people not figured out how to build domes? Hell, the train doesn't even include the cargospace in its hull design...and it cost as much as a top of the line cruiser, and has less defensive capability than a gunboat. Explain that, please. Petition: Royal Liners (And Possibly Even Luxury Liners) - Benjamin - 08-11-2009 But Eppy, what if you failed your special RP request? Would we get more threads about your royal liner's adventures? (Current count is five, I think.) As for the actual idea, I don't mind massively either way. I just don't see 'linerspam' as the problem it was. The Slave Liner is the only one that's really common anymore. Since they were weakened, they're not being picked anymore, and since their price was bumped, they're not being picked anymore. I hardly even see lux liners around. As for the Royal Liner being rare. Osiris? I think there are even two Royal Liners in Cryer. But regardless, they're hardly seen in game and I don't really see the need to hide them. Petition: Royal Liners (And Possibly Even Luxury Liners) - Death.RunningVerminator - 08-11-2009 I highly disagree with having to make a "special request" for one of these. It ruins it all. And would be impossible to achieve from what I've herd. Petition: Royal Liners (And Possibly Even Luxury Liners) - Eppy - 08-11-2009 ' Wrote:But Eppy, what if you failed your special RP request? I don't want to hide them, I'm just doing something that will hopefully convince the whining pirates among us to shut up and accept that some trade ships, because they have crap cargo and carry humans, get huge-ass guns. Moreover, why anybody would deny my special RP request I have no idea. The premise is not absurd. Petition: Royal Liners (And Possibly Even Luxury Liners) - Varyag - 08-11-2009 I propose that eppy be allowed to make threads by special request only. This includes the thread being made to request the formentioned special request. The 3 page summory of the proposed thread should include a signed in blood agreement for the lack of whining about whining. I propose that Varyag just be shut up entirely for the good of my already-rickety sanity. Petition: Royal Liners (And Possibly Even Luxury Liners) - schlurbi - 08-11-2009 Where do you see them? I only ever see one Luxury Ship...The Hawaii  No seriously, I do rarely see Liners. Even the overpowered Slave Liner. Maybe i see it 2 times in a Month. Petition: Royal Liners (And Possibly Even Luxury Liners) - Eppy - 08-11-2009 I know we rarely see liners, but if I have to try and get them restricted to get the spam-wary among us to pipe down and let us buff the ships as necessary, so be it. I don't think many of you realize how aggravating it is to take half an hour, sometimes more, dodging pirates and avoiding tradelanes, to make about 6.5 million credits, and being completely unable to truly, IRP, do another run, and then get mugged every time you think it's safe to take aforementioned tradelanes because pirates know you have nowhere else to go. You know, I remember the day I made Ace. I was flying a Large Train, and I'd gotten it off a mediocre gunboat. Now I can't expect to kill a Gunboat in a Cap VIII Liner, the supposed pinnacle of defense in trading vessels, and god forbid I try to get real RP out of the encounter. The last time I was pirated and enjoyed it was, ironically, by Phate (God, I think that was at least three months ago). I payed 1.1 billion good credits - upwards of 40 hours of play - for a ship so that I could have a fighting chance doing something so much more interesting than move inanimate objects and do it in a ship that matched my character's style - tenacious, morally questionable, rich, and cultured as hell - and I come to find out that no, I should have spent my money on that new Dreadnought after all, it's all a farce left over from the days when a Liner WAS good for that sort of thing, back when it was a ship that made pirates really work for their money, and actually let the trader make some. *sits back down in rocking chair, puts on straw hat, sets Wave Motion Gun down* |
