Nomination for a new Mod - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever - 08-19-2009 I do not think we should have a say, the admins should nominate those who are fit for the job, This is not a democracy. Cool headedness does not get you very far, now does it? Sure, you arent slapped around for "Admin-Abuse" but as tenacity said, I could find at least 10 people in every faction, From Zoner to Aegiera that have sanctionable offenses. That needs to be fixed... Nomination for a new Mod - MB52 - 08-19-2009 Zapp or Boss, or Hack would make great choices IMO Nomination for a new Mod - Blodo - 08-19-2009 Tenacity: And the solution to fixing that does not involve banning them on sight. It involves raising awareness about the rules by informing these players when they do something wrong. Preferably by an admin/angel. Nomination for a new Mod - Jacob S. - 08-19-2009 I'm voting Fletcher, Blodo and... Seth Karlo <.< Nomination for a new Mod - n00bl3t - 08-19-2009 I will put in a nomination for tazuras if he is around here still. I will also put one in for kingvaillant. (Others will come to mind later.) Nomination for a new Mod - Colonel Z.e.r.o. - 08-19-2009 ' Wrote:Tenacity one thing that people need to learn about the rules, is that they are not in place to allow people to sanction other people. The rules are meant as guidelines towards good gameplay, as well as protection against people refusing to follow the example of such good, established gameplay that the rest of the server is already used to. The sanction system is merely a vessel for educating people who openly disrupt server gameplay, certainly not one for personal wrath and "roflpwn", nor one that is meant to oblige a person to report every single rule violation he finds. In principle it was meant to be used in only the most dire situation, where the person involved is obviously not going to change his ways without admin intervention. Should more people finally realise that, I imagine the amount of sanctions posted daily would reduce tenfold. People educate themselves, not the sanctions. They're merely a deterrent in order to keep others from getting used to actions that disrupt the server's flow, intil, some of them (hopefully) consider finding an outlet (form of RP) for them to exist on this server with mutual contribution to all others involved When I first got here I was a big lolwutter running around with liberty cruisers, Rhienland cruisers, Battlecruisers (guess which one) then I got some sanctions shoved in my ass. Implementing my survival instincts onto the server and forum, I realized I wasn't gonna change the game, nor will I be able to do as I pleased, even in a desolate corner. When this hit me I considered joining in with the RP thing and adapt so I can still get a taste of what I was looking for, without 14-day intervals. Basically, sanctions are meant to be a deterrent until players realize the way to survive here without causing disruption and worse, bannage. And as blodo said they're meant to be a last resort to halt the offense, and in return, allowing others to realize the bennifits of constructive gameplay, and that should be the only reason sanctions exist. Nomination for a new Mod - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever - 08-19-2009 I vote for N00blet, and Jinx... if he already isnt one... Nomination for a new Mod - Bass_masta992 - 08-19-2009 Blodo Zapp Boss Hack. Nomination for a new Mod - darthbeck - 08-19-2009 i dont know about exile, but i would vote against eppy. Nomination for a new Mod - Galacius - 08-19-2009 The entire discussion thread makes me say blodo for sure. Id suggest rudo to if he hadnt said "No I wouldnt be good at that" and one can respect that. Discovery for newer people is a frustrating and scary place. Constant rule mongering can put anyone off, it sure did for me. If I would have been sanctioned for a few of the newbish (man I still make these a lot, made a bad one the other night but once I was informed about it I apologized) mistakes I would have said "Screw this I may like a lot of stuff about it but im not putting up with somewhere were some power hungry no life mouthbreather can get me (putting in for a big sanction) sanctioned why would I even want to try?" Would have waited till I got back, if I was still infuriated, minmax the best for the money I had and go on a rampage then delete discovery, since my opinion of the game would be so low. Being overtly harsh breeds defiantism, and as we can see from some groups its already here with the rules as they are. You get someone in who, like tenacity so eloquently put it, has a hot head and gets things done....well I think you'd chase away all the players that will actually try and breed a feeling of defiance and contempt that would eventually cause a rift in the server's populace. My 2 cents. |
