I think the landing is not the problem. It's the take off from planets since you are always leaving through the ring. In stations that's no problem unless asteroid bases do have the same problem as with planets.

Now just for that RP story.
The barge is pretty cool, although I have never flown it, either in SP or MP.
It would be great to RP a mobile base in that sells warez or something. I dont know, the RP is the trouble.

There are some interesting role-play ideas for a barge. Pirate storage warehouse for stolen cargo, mobile factory, mobile base of operations, and trading post are just some of the ideas out there.
The point is, any role-play with a barge has to be well thought out

Theres a reason the Admins give a free /beam to any new barge owner. It is a semi-semi-semi-SEMI-mobile base. It is, pure and simple, an RP ship. A trading post, temporary mining base, depot, research station, pirate raiding base, whatever you want. Also, I stress the semi- greatly.
But yes, never land on a planet. When you come out of the ring, your "vulnerable point" will not be able to clear the deathzone before you go up in flames. You cannot use tradelanes or Jumpgates. And to quote someone,
"It turns like a drunken legless granny on LSD roped to a wall."

GRRRR :(for some reason my other barge shot wont load onto imageshack. There are of tinkerbell flipping wildly while I compliment his ship :laugh:

Could someone give me specific instructions on how to get the barge in SP. Virus said something about IONCROSS and editing a new character something a rather. So could someone post exactly what I have to do and where to go to and what settings to change in order to try out the barge. I'm quite desperate because I'd really like to use this ship in MP.

1. Make a new SP Save
2. Install IONCROSS Character Editor and Import Discoveries IONCROSS Files so it works
3. Turn on and select your save
4. Go to the top and giveyourself 1900000000
5. Go to the next tab besides Inventory 3rd Tab from Left.
6 .On the System List to the left Select Bastille and on the right set rep to Friendly with Admin Faction. top of list.
7. Select the Admin Station under stations. Not the Prison Stations
8. Save Changes Below
9. Enjoy

This doesnt look like a factory or base to me. Sure it is big...but it has the form of a ship. Which stupid would call that a base? Ok, my Starflyer is a great mobile base too, since it is a mobile communing platform.:P
