The Kiretsu have taken over Planet Kyushu.

The bomb in the Emperor's bed will be next!

The example of sarcasm shows the extent of my feelings towards what happened.. And I'm not even one of the factions involved! But of course, being involved isn't required to notice something is that bad.

For one, it locks out the vast majority of players from the game, locking in RP to an elite few people like you, myself, Zelot, Zapp, Blodo, Dieter and the other few people who are at the high end in several factions. Sure, it (arguably) keeps quality up, but it prevents new players growing. We may as well password the server at this rate. The 200 player slots isn't faction-leaders only.

Well, I agree there, although I think it's wise to let people know what they can and can't get in to when it comes down to roleplaying soething like this. If you are forcing someone's hand in roleplay, then you're doing it wrong. Situations are agreed upon by those involved. That doesn't mean reading from a script, that mean just leaving things open for the other involved players, and not guiding the story towards your own ends.

Everyone involved, inluding myself now, has been guiding the story towards the outcome which suits them. I don't much like it, but hey ho. Once you start heading down that path it's very hard to turn back around and get onto a more sensible and considerate route.

There are people who will roleplay things to a high quality, and those are the people who should be involved in storys like this, which are going to get discussed. Wildcards are, likely as not, going to make the whole thing rather messy, clouded and distorted for everyone.

New players cut their teeth on their own stuff. Their own storys and background and events and so on. Then move into stuff which can effect other players, or even the politics of a region. How one vets that I don't know... But never mind, that's somewhat off the point.

With regards to Katz, you'll see where I'm going.

Run into courtroom and shoot is screwed up?

I'm tired of metagaming.

I'm tired of legal sparring with bluntpencil (something I never wanted to get into, as I particularly dislike that kind of RP) even though it's just started.

I'm tired of this whole thing.

What exactly is the point to this? Can someone tell me that? How about why neither I nor Joe was informed that this was going on, nor were we consulted?

I've played my card. Call it metagaming if you'd like. The entire affair smacks of it to me, to be perfectly honest.

I'm tired as hell.

I think the whole thing is some pretty darn good RP. It took me awhile to get through it all but it was a pretty good read IMO. Metagaming? Jury is still out I guess but as with so many other times of it in Disco, people may not like it but we deal with it. Zoners didn't like it when the Wilde bombed Freeport 1 or Nomads bombing FP11 but we RP'd it.

If you get into a negotiation or even a verbal exchange with Bluntpencil, you will find yourself challenged for sure. You will also come out wiser and stronger for it.

You sir have read a certain book.

Still, what is being talked here is not about total RP non-sense, its about powergaming and the fact the involved parties where not informed of the whole thing in the begining.

Doesn't even need to be that. You just need to get creative with what factions might get involved...

I don't know whether to be disappointed or angry over the attitudes.

Steps and measures have been made to include everyone in this. People were informed when it was understood that they needed to be informed.

To say that anyone has no ability to impact any RP story with what they work on... that is wrong. Isn't that the very nature of RP? To actually RP and to have interaction?

Frankly Ontario has never been so active.

You want to accuse me of Power gaming, I would like to see how I have done so. I have been at the forefront of an effort NOT to do so. Researching aspects to ensure fair-play and to ensure that this be as balanced as possible.

I am now bitterly disappointed in the way that this has resulted. In the behaviour displayed and the accusations that are flying around.

I have never once issued orders to any LN pilot to do anything to another, in fact I have not issued any directives or commandments in the system beyond stop the fighting.

Elections happen, wether a person can run or not, that should still be a matter of debate. Not shut down because certain people don't like it.

It is utterly discouraging to see something that so many people have worked on dismissed by those that lead factions. Why should it be? You are limiting the RP value of the whole game and diminishing it totally.

It is a shame.

========

Edit: I would also like to compliment Joe on his balanced approach to this. Meeting it appropriately, and working with it. I respect that tremendously. I also had respect for Zapp for actually doing something in the court room that was creative and well thought out. But if you don't like legal RP, why are you a police chief? Isn't that the very nature of your character adn the role you chose?
