DO NOT WANT

Survey: Nomad Membership (October --- 2009) - Guest - 10-28-2009

If it were up to me, some other NPC factions would be built similarly to the Keepers as well.

Voted not becasue that would spawn 20 factions in a couple of seconds, all willing to pew everybody. That plus the indies that would abuse of the freedom to get their own nomad battleships or whatever they are called and bring them to NY where they would join the Stortas and Sarissas already there... The whole nomad faction would lose its RP

Other.

Open form requires substantial re-work and re-design in many aspects such as game infrastructure, balances and checks.

First thing first is that people will need to present a concept which takes into account the issues, the limitations, the responsibility and consequences, has a system, a mechanism that is going to actually work and not just be, it needs to have a solid plan of necessary changes, addressing the concerns and having the right and working solutions to them. But until that happens I can guarantee you that nothing will change. One little hole missed in the concept's hull and the whole thing will sink down quicker than you'd say "oh sh..", but that'll be too late already. Veteran players who have been active in 4.83 remember well how did that end - Nomads were forbidden to play on the server.

4.83 - been there done that.

The answer lies in history. Find out the truth. The solution lies in community responsibility. Find it in yourselves.

I say open membership. Reason: No more messing around with Nomad Trials.

No, because delicate roleplay shouldn't be screwed over.

Bowex is a corporation. Every member ship of bowex is a member ship of Bowex. Ergo, every Bowex ship should be a Bowex ship. Yes?

Nomads are a hive mind, sure. But there are certainly other organizations which are supposedly one entity. You don't -have- independent members of a corporation, or of Militaries.

So, then, Nomads can't claim to be 'united' and by such, invite only, or Join player faction only, or whatever, unless they play the 'dangerous' card.

But I don't consider the nomads any more dangerous or special than, say, the Xenos. (same goes with the Phantoms.)

Sure, they're an excuse to PVP things...but honestly? its a space shooting game.

Bowex have arguably the best access to shires than any other player. Shires are reasonably cheap...100M. They have 12 guns, and can do something like 36k dps. Pretty dangerous, but we're expected to be safe because of ID restrictions.

Why are Phantom and Nomad ID restrictions not considered strong enough? Same players, same rules. That is, someone could take a shire(or any other ship) and pvpwhore sirius...but they generally don't, because of rules and human decency...

Lots of people make the argument that the nomads are a likely target for abusers, but I believe not. Any big ship is a target for abuse, but not many are policed like nomads are, and I don't believe nomads have the level of specialness required. I don't believe anything does. But, then, I believe, and I take it on faith, that the nomad ships are no better than any other ships.

I think its unfair to apply any statement that nomads are special, that their rp is better, more thought out, etc, as compared to a group that can't restrict its members. They're very lucky that they're in a position where game mechanics support what a lot of factions have tried: being a unilateral faction. It affords them the ability to strictly control everyone who looks like a 'real' nomad, which is grand.

Should they keep it? I voted no. I think each group should be equal, but I'd rather each group, or most groups, or...nearly every group. Except for...freelancers. And mercenaries...To be like the SCRA, the Phantoms, and the Nomads. Faction only. I don't think indies are particularly helpful to server growth, and think they should be done away with. Being a Bowex member is just about identical to being a Bowex Indie, so far as I can tell, and frankly...I can much easier convoy up with the Bowex members.

Please make the Bowex faction unattainable without Joining the player faction.

Ahh, I can see it now, as the (RUS)-tagged nomad battleship undocks from Freeport 9 and exclaims:

*** U WHAN PVP????? ***

(i.e. No)

One more thing to add to my post above. I'd be the one benefiting the most from the plain "yes" answer in terms of PvP. How come? Instant influx of players at the side most of my characters are. Gazillion of nomads all around wrecking havoc like some kind of little gremlins. It's like instant "I WIN" PvP button. With amount of forum and in-game PMs coming from people who are looking only for PvP opportunity by playing Nomads I can tell you one thing: it's going to be like "ZOMG ZERG RUSH!!!!". Do you really want to try it?

p.s. Boy oh boy, imagining that already makes me want to press "yes". Joker's hysterical laughter...

Realist in me wants to press "no".
Optimist in me wants to press "other".
Pure ****ing craziness in me wants to press "yes".

What do I do? What do I do?! Arrgghhh....

Anything happened?... Hello? Heeelloooo...
Well, crap, there is nothing here. Where did everyone go?

Oh, the server crashed.

The Nomad faction must stay as it is. It is perfect and difficult to achieve - for me. Want to be a nomad? Write a RP odf one on how it grows through out his journey - most likely you'll get an invite. So, i say no.
