Most ships do have fins tho, The fighters without fins have a lesser vhance of loosing guns/thruster/mine/cm.

Eagle all the way, but of course it does have its weakness, since its a oringnal freelancer model it takes double damage from missiles and mines on the hull.:(

My favorite VHF would be the Werewolf cause no-one uses and it and it has the highest Armour of all the VHF in the game. Unfortunatly it turns like a GB.

Another Favorite of mine would probably be the Avenger, since in SP i drolled over that ship and why Juni could have it and I couldn't....

Verginix Out

The BD isn't a brick now?! YAY!

Its my second favorite fighter after the Eagle. Mostly because of looks.;)

You won't be the only one flying it for long..

My opinion on the ships I've flown:

Eagle: Damn good ship. Power plant not enough for me though.

Sabre: Love it!! Very good ship when you know how to fly it.

Titan: Too unstable. Breaks very easily.

Avenger: Nice manouverability. Very good power plant. Not enough fire power to use it however.

Guardian: Avenger with less hull, harder to hit, less power, higher manouverability.

Templar: Too slow, but good power plant with slots to match it.

Chimaera: Also slow, but better than the Templar. Falls apart when hit with a missile.

Raven's Talon: Good manouverability, good power, etc etc. Damn good ship!

Nephytis (?): Fairly manouverable, very good firepower and power plant, easy to hit, can fall apart.

Manta: Eagle but harder to hit, more hull, more/same power.

Werewolf: Could be a bomber with that power plant. Generous hull, awfully easy to hit.

Raven Claw: Excellent ship if you can use it (which I can't). Power plant lets it down slightly.

I have no favourite ship, I'll fly anything. They all have their advantages and disadvantages.

Plus, I'm a bomber pilot! :D

Manta is NOT the Eagle.. Thats like comparing a speed boat to a wave runner. Sure, both are maneuverable and fast, but the wave runner is considerably more agile.. Like the Eagle more agile than the Manta. Not to mention Manta being easier to hit.

Forgot the Blood Dragon on there. THAT is what the Manta compares to in agility. Fairly good power plant too.

Also, if you don't try shooting yoru shield busters and hull hitters on that Ravenclaw all at the same time the entire fight, you won't have any energy problems (unless you have 4 codenames on that thing). And you forgot to mention it being the most liked ship of the Phantoms and ex-Phantoms (this includes me, but that Eagle and BD beats it slightly).

That is why they are called opinions, not facts.

IMO, the eagle is easier to hit than the manta due to its spread. The manta is thinner, so when strafing you leave a smaller target to hit.

I haven't flown a BD so I wouldn't know.

I also haven't flown a Wrath, Talon or Viper. Wrath is next on my list.

Raven claw's powerplant isn't the thing that bothers me. I can deal with it. It's the turning. For some reason I think it feels very weird and wobbly, especially when coming out of a turn.

I've been flying a chimaera (same model) for a while now. I've never lost a thruster. I lose both side fins regularly but never the center fin.

As for my favorite...I like them all. VHFs rule

VHF discussion topic - Dab - 05-21-2007

I'd consider the Chimaera's thruster pretty secure unless your enemy has missiles.

First you would have to take out the two larger outside fins, then hit the smaller, shorter inside fin, which isn't easy as it sticks close to the engines.

If you sub-targeted the thruster, than it would be easier to shoot off than most other ships, but unless you do that, your not going to have much luck hitting it. Fin or no.

only one good vhf, the wrath, maneuvarable as hell, decnt powerplant
