What sort of ID/ship combo do you need cause I just tried the copperton field with a miner ID and transport mining lasers on me BWT and I only got 11 copper ore in 5 minutes...

Copperton is a a VANILLA field - bonuses will not be applied.
For fields that do apply a bonus though you need:
Miner ID (or relevant mining corporation ID)
Mining Ship (various types available)
Mining Lasers (to shoot those roids)
Mining IFF (appropriate corporation or Freelancer if none applicable)

You need the four thing for the bonus.
