I may interject as no one else has and I am very bored at this moment.
As we have discussed Ivan the end result and unannounced conclusion was that mining should be and RP wise en "Operation," As explained in my recounting of golden years in our Kishiro skype chat, ZMC employees tons of employees mostly underlevels to horde the silver in Colorado. And not to boast so much i made millions. And there was no yields to worry about and or making sure the the IFF matches the field. But never the less I never mined' alone, I always had a team.
My argument is that Independent companies such has ZMC ...

@ bear - you didn't sound rude, your opinion is valid!
But I don't see you complaining how pirates are tough and how they steal too much and I can't believe that people offer 2 millions when they have full cargo hold of ore. It's just sick when they start to whine then.
If you don't need escorts thats completely opposite of "crying because pirates steal your money"
First of all, its their money. Since they have it now.
It is your money all the way up to when he actually corners you into paying / or giving away cargo.
Things are hard now on pirates to be honest to you. Not to pirates that don't care, but to pirates that believe they do try to maintain stability.
When you intercept 5k cargo ship full of ore, wouldn't it be just grand to take it all? Imagine that cash!
- But you restrain yourself, and ask for third. And then, if you're lucky, just lucky enough. Guy will say something like "NO! SCREW YOU PIRATE" and you will end up getting 3k cargo.
Problem starts when you start hoping that he'll refuse to cooperate.
Then you start to hurt the game instead of actually participating.
Terrorists hope their targets will resist so they enjoy the thrill / explosions. Remember, you need ID for that.

Here here, also, nothing quite like the experience of a full convoy. Dang I miss those days, one time gateway got a good amount together, we got some LWB to hit us, escorts done too good a job, got us away, so we had to oorp tell 'em where to hit us:)Great fun!

Good Post Ivan but you forgot one big thing:
Escort is not only the idiot shooting at Pirates for you. He is also a mate on your way. You will have much more fun talking to him. The Trades will happen faster, you will have much more fun playing that game. Especially HE will have a lot of fun. He could also spend his time flying alone earning the big fat money, but he wants to play with YOU, have fun with YOU.

hey ivan good thread, still tho i think ur being just a little judgemental urself.
although at first glance solo mining can seem harder and as or less profitable than before, done at the right times of day with the right equipment can bring in yeilds of 3-5 times before the mining update (per hour). if a person intentionally only plays for the 10 hours less than 80 ppl r on for then they see very few pirates.
if they do happen to find one during there 5 runs during that time then 5-10 mil out of over 100 mil if they were 100% efficiant seems very minimal.( and for travel POV if u meet a pirate dont go that same route, and if u do dont use the tradelanes or use a hidden jump hole to getinto the system instead) use some common sense, and anyone complaining about the new mining mod is either a complete fool, or doesnt understand how to use it to there advantage. peace ivan and all else who displayed valued opinions in this thread. i hope this little rant makes any complainers think about there own methods atleast slightly. (btw now that the mining mod is here we need to fight to keep it, some changes may need to be made,"scrap for junkers", but in general it so far is a GOOD change)
