Edit: Besides, if the T and CD equipped ships handle a lot worse than CD only escorts, well you get the picture. Gain a T slot and lose the advantage of turn rate against other fighters. Cruise Disruptor/Torpedo Hardpoint - pipsqueak - 07-11-2007 Well in the next iteration, may be all traders can have a Countermeasure dropper. 90 percent effective ? Let's see if it is... I can foresee a certain ship that can pull this off. 2 Torps/1 CD.Countermeasures/ Turns like a rhineland bomber with a 9800 hull. No Gunz / No Turrets. Look around guys. Every one is flying a Capital ship. Make this a Xeno terror fighter. Them terrorist buggers need some thing as an equalizer. Cruise Disruptor/Torpedo Hardpoint - Mastery - 07-12-2007 I was doing a little xeno-ing recently up in o-5. 1 nova and 1 hornet(useless grrr, looking for train CD). Anyways I didnt really mind that they got away as I was having fun. But when I hit them with the single Nova, 1 takes out over 50% of their shield. I then hit its hull(container ship). It took of about 50%, not sure what armour it had. Thing is, if I had had a fighter wingman with a train CD, and myself with 2 Novas, the damage would be awesome. If I could mount 2 Novas AND a train CD, that would be a lot of power for a single ship. Cruise Disruptor/Torpedo Hardpoint - pipsqueak - 07-13-2007 Correct me if I am wrong cause I still need to test this theory. But you can not do shield and hull damage at the same time with a nova hit. Meaning, for the hull to get damage, the shields have to be down before the hit registers. Try killing a few Xenos with just the novacannons by NY/Colorado Jump gate, in their little star flyers. The only way this would be a threat for fighter class ships is with pulling off a two nova hit with a fraction of a second within the hit registers.aka instant kill. It generally takes you a couple of seconds to be able to shoot again. What would happen if the opponent gets behind you ? With turning radius like a rhineland bomber and the only ability to attack is with real slow novas, the only option I see for this ship is to CD the heck out of the opponent and dropping mines. then what after your stash runs out? I believe then the bomber is dead in the water. Remember if you get disrupted, you would still be able to out flank it with a little engine kill and thrusters. What strategy do you think would work against, lets say a Raven's claw, if you can not kill it in one pass? I really would like to hear your input in this. This would be a pretty strong ship against bigger ships and traders and other bombers but pretty weak agains the fighter class. But fighters would be able to kill it very easity with just avoiding the slow guns (what is it 200 kph ?), out turning it and getting behind it. (No rear ward turret). Imagine what a Wyrm can do to this ship with a CD. I see this ship promoting more escorts and a new emergence of escort economy. Also lighter fighters will have a new use. Destorying this class of ships. |
