The question should not be whether to remove flak or not, but how to fix this issue in the first place.

There are two options for that:

1. We remove the wireframes of all vanilla ships.
2. We add wireframes to all non-vanilla ships.

2 is doable, but will require a modding team dedicated to it. Also, there might be necessary to re made all the new ships so they are made of a single primitive instead of a lot of pieces pasted together, as the wireframe tool will not work correctly with the later, but the former.

1 would be a lame way to solve it, but effective.

If i had free time, I would commit myself to fixing the wireframe problem (option 2), but i dont have free time other than for being on the forums (you might have noticed that i havent been in game for weeks now), and that is because I enter from my office.

Wireframes on every ship I say. Tons of work, won't happen overnight, but it's worth it imo.

Ok...is there a howto or a guide to putting wireframes together?
would like to help.

I have some ship modeling skills and can help with modifying the hitbox/wirframes of the non-vanilla ships (I think the reason is the .sur file, because it is the hitbox of a ship, and you control the subgroups with it. If you mean the .sur files as you were talking about wireframes, then I'm sorry I doubled your thoughts in these brackets).

Never forget, guys: I have time:P

Fix the vanilla battleship bug. If they can't be fixed, remove the weapon all together. (I don't agree with adding it to every battleship. Because then we would have Cruisers that could own battleships in the matter of seconds)

Remove all vanilla battleships?
bye FL-ish.

(( sorry if i didnt get that right Dboy, damn english beer <.< ))

Fix the problem, or balance the problem ... Do not remove them out of hand, because after all this time its
been discovered that they do damage to Vanilla ships.
Its basically a balance issue, though I'm getting fed up with seeing imported battleships now mounting at
least four flaks to exploit the damage.
Usual thing when something gets discovered, never posted as a bug is it ?

I agree, we either need to remove flak or reduce its damage and remove the wireframes from all vanilla capital ships, not the fighters. Let them be, there's still hope for them. DIdn't post it as a bug because it's not, it's a balance issue, and there's discussion to be had that may become bigger than the balance issue thread. Subgroups are not a bug, they just are. They were completely intentional, and I think they add a fun element to the game, a more complex target.
