It looks kind of neat, but it looks a lot more like a stationary miner or something you'd see working at a station if you ask me.

Great ship. I personally think this ship is needed because I mine a lot and i see the need for a new ship that can defend itself just until back-up can arrive.

i like the idea, and think a variety of mining ships is an excellent idea. right now you cruise into a asteroid cloud and are confronted by a wall of ships as similar to each other as the asteroids around them.
however.
but i think if you were planning around that size cargo bay, a freighter might be easier to balance, while still being able to take down some pests

Instead of making a frigate why not make a super heavy miner with 18 Turrets 4000 cargo space and 200k armor. It will be a very sturdy ship good for filling up transports and tackling pirates.

hmm i agree... IMG heavy miner.... sort of a liner in strenght and size.... but VERY slow and expensive... like 225m or so.... since it will be sort of "invisible" to pirates

This could be the 'personalized' version of mining ship owned by the IMG. It is not gonna replace the Hydra since that gunboat its a darling. This could be some 'heavy miner' also, for IMG, of course, with more hull and cargo space than the Dusty mining ship.

that is the impression i want this ship to make. the class 7 shield wont render the hydra outdated, but the slightly reduced cargo bay wont kill the hegemon. this is supposed to be a "money making" vessel that can still fight, but by no means to i want to outclass and / or replace any existing ships
and by "replace the hydra" i meant for the IMG, not the hydra alltogeather (which will be owned by the colonial remnant in 4.86 accordint to what I've heard)
also, I made the design of the ship's "body", but my co- modeler , aka Geeky, designed the "claw" part as well as some minor changes and polygon reduction, so thanks for the complement!:)

No it won't. It can easily be pirated and will be. It costs 225,000,000 credits then, well that means that whoever bought this ship is RICH.
If it's very slow, then you couldn't escape pirates, especially in an asteroid field.
