I should also note that the control tower / hangar complex at the top of the current Barge is an excellent feature, and one that we should move to the new model - the control tower especially.

Get rid of the biodome. It shouldn't be completely self sufficient, transports can truck food out to it.

I really like that model. Makes the barge more detailed. Only thing I don't like is the bio-dome. Its just randomly sticking out of the side and would look nicer if it was on the top or bottom somehow.

The thing about the current in-game barge is that yes, it is poorly made and crude, but it fills the role and looks the part perfectly. Sort of like the old Geb.

I like the biodome, but i do think it should be moved to the top, so it could recive more sunlight no matter which direction the "ship" is facing, and make it have a smaller profile

You could always place the Biodome somewhere else. Above, below or behind the Ship. How about the Barge "pulling" the Biodome? That'd look awesome.
Or even two Biodomes? Placed like on the Freeport in Yukon.

I liked the old barge better because it was an Island 3 space colony with engines.. Park it in orbit somewhere and it makes sense.
