Mohr's idea about the uber cap ship guns of almost no hope sounds good more like a ace in the hole that MIGHT work than a over powered omg weapon

as for the sniper beam also sounds good twud look nice on a fighter or gunboat (id suggest gunboat) because i couldn't imagine a Fighter flying about with a semi type rail gun strapped to it Would tear the thing in two most likely

doesn't have to be a railgun....infact...I would say not a railgun.
railguns need ammo...and huge power requirements.
how about a wavepulse particle beam?
you don't have to propel any set of particles...you just have to displace them.
not many particles in space, but....that may help deal with dispersal

I have had a long time to think about that gun.

The 2.0 refire is so that it can sync with codies, allowing it to be used sparingly when the target is close.. It takes twice what an Arcangel does to fire once . And the speed was set 1.2k so that it stays synchronized with most weapons (they are appox 600-800 in speed). It can be used as a tracer in an alternate application.

I was playing Freelancer WTS the other day and some NPC group was using guns that fired headless shots with humongous blue tails. It did look like a Laser, minus the lag, so perhaps something with a 4.00/8.33 refire rate and a really long, wide tail could look like a laser without the lag.

Plus, they're also very intimidating.

I know how to form a beam, Freelancer also has some hidden weapon effects to make the beam look better.

But yeah, it's up to Igiss whether to implement them or not.

Warning, Ironic: What about a shotgun type gun? That works! What about proxmimity missiles? That works too! What about a gun that shoots shields?! That also works!

A gun that shoots shields? what the hell? You mean it launches shield generators that you can tractor in?

weapons - especially continuous beams - I_m_rdy - 10-22-2007

No shield generators, no. A gun that shoots just normal shields that provide some extra protection, until it's destroyed. But that was just sarcastic, it's possible, but would ruin the fun horribly.

actually....a mine layer that drops active shield generators might be nice.
something to get in the way of shots being fired at you as you escape.

Actually, a gun that restored shields to your target would make an awesome repair ship...

A while back i was helping out with this homeworld mod for freelancer and they tried making a negative damage weapon to do repairs and... yeaaaa didnt work out so well.

If I recall, it just blows up anything with HP instantly, so uber that even a maxxed out admin shield couldn't absorb it. Not sure though
