The Bear's Cave - Freeport 14, Yukon - Dancing Bears - 12-24-2010 Lev picked up the card, "Victor Cross huh? Ya, I've heard of ya." He quickly scanned the card and returned it to the other man. "Last I heard yer name though, was quite some time ago..." Lev picked up the pipe again, lit it and slowly drew in the smoke. "Why.. it musta been back in the Council days." He slowly tilted his head to the side, as if he was taking a walk through his past in the blink of an eye. "You were one of those folks what were at the start of OSI no?" The Bear's Cave - Freeport 14, Yukon - Daedric - 12-29-2010 "Not quite, but damn near it." Victor replied, "Sam brought me on and set me up. Won't ever forget that man." Motioning for another sour, he looked over at Malikk and his crew, "I'm glad you opened this place, Lev. Gives us all a place to relax and forget about all the troubles out there. For a moment at least." The Bear's Cave - Freeport 14, Yukon - Dancing Bears - 12-31-2010 "I tell you what," Lev started. "I've spend years flying this way and that in this universe, I seen most the sights we can see. I've stared into the neutron star in Omega 5, had philosophical discussions with some robot Togo, I've courted the commadore of the Liberty navy, and lived with Mal, one of the greatest leaders a rag tag bunch of outsiders could ever have. I have sat on the Council of Zoners and witnessed the diplomacy of Siruis first hand. Many would say I have led a special life, that I am blessed. I am, but not for the reasons most people think." Lev poured another drink for the man across the bar, and then poured himself a glass and leaned back against the bar again. "Ya see, it's not who I've met, or what event I have been a part of, or what I have seen. The value is that I have had the chance to meet so many people, to make personal connections, to develop relationships with so many, so diverse people. I've traveled throughout Sirius, and have found that no matter how far I go, people are still pretty much the same. The same fears and hopes, the same dreams and nightmares, the same love and loss. I have seen the thing most of humanity has missed, this things that make us the same are much much greater than the things that make us different. It's how I live my life, if we understand that all of humanity is family, and we treat them that way, how could you ever raise a hand against another?" Lev sipped on the drink and lit his pipe again. The Bear's Cave - Freeport 14, Yukon - Daedric - 01-02-2011 Victor took a minute to take in what Lev had said replying, "Whatever it is you are smoking, I'll have some." Turning and looking at the OSI employees having a good time, "They are my family. I'll go to hell and back for them" taking a drink he continues, "Seems we are all being told how we should be acting as a Zoner now days. That's why I like it out here, its quite and no one yelling that we should be shooting someone else to defend someone else's beliefs." Finishing off his drink Victor slides drops dome credits on the bar, "I'm off, have a business trip. I'll see you all later. Be safe." The Bear's Cave - Freeport 14, Yukon - Dancing Bears - 01-02-2011 "You too Victor, be safe... and I'll have that smoke next time you come in." Lev said with a wink. The Bear's Cave - Freeport 14, Yukon - Daedric - 02-03-2011 Walking out of his office and past his secretaries' desk, "Kandice, I'm heading to the Bear's Cave if I'm needed." Stepping of the lift and onto main deck of the promenade he walked through the entrance to the Cave and took a seat at the bar, "Lev! How's business been? I'll take a whiskey sour and that smoke you promised me." The Bear's Cave - Freeport 14, Yukon - Yaoquizque - 02-06-2011 ![]() An old sabre jumped in Yukon. Inside its cockpit, a young girl was leaning on her back, carelessly controlling the ship with her feet. She was currently busy writing something on a diary put on her legs. After a while she raised her head and looked around. "Uhhhh... Where am i now..." The young girl checked her old nav maps "Yuuu...Konn.. Yuukon." She laughed "Ah! It just sounds like a shampoo name!" As she was speaking to herself, The ship suddenly jolted, nearly getting her fell off the chair. "Woa... What now? I don't like much that sound!" There was indeed a weird noise coming from the back of the ship. She sat up straight and checked her instruments. After a quick investigation she sighed "Come on...!" She stood up and moved quickly to the hold, running to the engine little diagnosis rack. Shaking her head, she started to do some operations "Love... You won't die on me, right?" The engine only 'answer' was to make a pathetic noise. The young girl nodded "You tell them" She opened a little compartment, smiling "But... I know how you react... When i tickle you... you giggle!" As she was speaking, she worked on the injector, bypassing the internal securities to make it use all the fuel she had left. The engine raced, making a sound coming from bass to high-pitched in a few seconds. After a while, the engine stopped and restarted. The girl grinned and moved to the cockpit "Where to, now... Doubt this will last long..." She checked her old nav maps "So... Ah! Freeport 14! Strange that i never came here!" +++++++++++++++++++++++ Freeport 14... The young girl is waiting near her ship, while a mech is checking the engine. "So... Love... It will.. Fly again, right?" The mech came out and stared at her "Of course miss. But we will have to replace several parts of that girl" He tapped on her ship and sighed "You know miss... You should really get some regular maintenance done... You don't realize how dangerous it can be to have a critical system failing in the middle of nowhere..." She shook her head "I know hon'... But... Sometimes i simply don't have the money..." He nodded "I see... Well... To be honest, repairing this ship will cost a lot." "Awwww." She made a weird face "I don't know where i will find the money..." She then noticed his somewhat anxious expression and smiled softly "Ehhhh... Don't worry, i will" He scratched his head "Well.... You could still sell me this ship, if you're in trouble, miss" "Selling the Unicorn? No way!" She pulled her tongue and laughed. "Anyway... Is there a bar here, love?" "Hmm.. Yes... There is that bar... That opened a while ago" He chuckled "A strange place however" "Okay, i will be right back!" She waved and left the docks. +++++++++++++++++++++++ The girl entered in 'The Bear's Cave', looking around. "Helloooo" She waved then moved to the counter and sat. "Hmmm" She searched in her pockets "What can i have for.... Hmm... 23 credits?" ... The Bear's Cave - Freeport 14, Yukon - Dancing Bears - 02-22-2011 It had been months, Lev has settled into a nice easy routine, the bar was doing well, and Lev had been able to hire a few hands to help out. The OSI folk were pretty good customers, and the traffic at 14 was slowly growing. Seems some people where actually starting to come to 14 just to stop of at Lev's Bear Cave. Today he was in the office, smoking a nice blend of from the Farmers of Kusari, mixed with some of Baffins finest. So good. Looking down from his office to the floor of the bar, he saw someone open the door. The Bear's Cave - Freeport 14, Yukon - fencore - 02-22-2011 Gheis nodded to the guard at the entrance of The Bear Cave as he walked in. He'd not been by in months, the recent stint of new business contracts had kept him flying hither-thither around Sirius, and it was just now that he'd resigned active captaincy that he had time to saunter on down. "G'day. A scotch, if you would." The bartender wasn't someone Gheis recognized, but it'd been some time since he's spent any length of time on 14. The bartender turned back around, slid the glass to Gheis, and took a credit chip off the counter. The Bear Cave still had the same air about it now as it did when he first came in months ago. It was surprising how well everyone got along out in the middle of unregulated space. Then again, everyone also had their weapons locked at the door. Gheis continued to nurse his scotch for a spell, then waved the bartender back over for another once he'd finished. The thought behind getting out of the captain's char would be so that he could ease off his duties and relax a bit. The new influx of employment applications saw otherwise, though. The bartender passed off the second scotch. "Hey mate, where's Lev gotten off to? It's not like him to be tucked away somewhere." The Bear's Cave - Freeport 14, Yukon - Dusty Lens - 02-22-2011 So far as shortcuts go the road from Kusari to Yukon wasn't the smoothest, imagine there were briar patches through into which a body wouldn't mind be tossed naked over the rather touch-and-go path presented by the Rogues. But still, he preferred to avoid Colorado. In some ways the hurtles of the mind presented a far more formidable obstacle. Or at least an uncomfortable one. So when what was left of his Sabre dropped back into realspace abreast the welcome sight of Freeport Fourteen David Chambers, running under the handle of one Daniel Conner of the Reaver Mercenary Company, breathed a sigh of relief on two levels. His damage control board was flashing more red than green and his tank was coming up thirsty. He was coming up thirsty. A good enough sign that this would be as good a pitstop as any. Barrier could wait until tomorrow. Landing permission was requested and received. His ship settled into its cradle as the docking mechanism received his ship and moved it to the side, preparing for the next. Scans were made and repair costs estimated. When the helmet came off he didn't need a mirror to tell him he looked like ****. The environmental suit would have retarded any bacterial growth, but it couldn't do anything about the two days of stubble on a face that looked like it had one foot in the grave and the other in hell. He pulled on a pair of jeans, dragged a threadbare wooly pully out of a compartment and over his head and strapped a pistol to his thigh. A double tap on the ship's hull and the sparks that followed signaled a working set of riot gloves. If his current life told him anything it was that looks didn't matter when you could fight like a sonofabitch. Five minutes after touchdown his boots were threading a steady pace through the corridors towards The Bear's Cave, gloved fingers tapping a cadence against his sidearm in time with his steps. Zoner bases were generally good to go, but when one's head was worth thirty million it seemed like it'd be nice to at least return fire. The bar he found wasn't what he expected. But the brightly colored, in more ways than one, backdrop wasn't entirely displeasing either. He stood in the doorway for a half moment, taking in the sights and persons. Cheerfully surrendering his firearm at the door before concluding his short march at the bar where the tender was swiftly flagged. If I could score a menu and a whiskey toddy that'd be all manner of fine. |
