I'd say that if you want to role-play a spy or something, go right ahead. Regardless of the fact that this topic seemed to spawn from a misunderstanding, I think that playing a character in two "factions" could be interesting.

There was a legitimate question of whether or not the action depicted was allowed, not a blatantly obvious motive of exposing the rules-breaking by that person.
