I've played my share of classic games (C&C Red Alerts, Fallout, Doom etc).

Your argument is based upon the fact that older titles had more imagination than modern titles. This is simply not true. The only thing that made you think they're more creative is the fact that there weren't similar titles which, in comparison, makes them dull and repetitive. It's true that gameplay is more important than graphics, but the point is that technology limitations restrict the level of detail in graphics and this isn't a deciding factor in quality of games as it'll continue to advance. Older games have the advantage of using original ideas first simply because they existed first. You can't disregard contemporary games just because they remind you of someone else's idea.

I can think of plenty of well written, nicely produced and directed modern games and franchises off my head. It's not just about the artistic value, but also the enjoyment they provide to players.

- Metal Gear Solid series
- Mirror's Edge
- Ico/Shadow of the Colossus
- Prince of Persia series
- Mass Effect series
- The Elder Scrolls series
- Fallout series

All of the games I mentioned have brilliant replay values, well written plots, smooth gameplay and provide an immersive experience. Hell, MGS even crosses the line between a game and a movie.

[color=#3366ff]ps: Your English is atrocious.

No what i ment was the lack of high tech graphics in older games made u use your own imagination more.

just like people who say the books are better then the movies cos u have to use your own imagination to picture what is going on in the story ,

and i feel game play is being Sacrificed over eye candy not only in games but movie's two for the most part,

but i see you are in to graphics design and i thort you would said about black and white 1/2 as i do admit
that game would not of worked with out the graphics in this god game

First played the demo in 2007 when i bought the new HP Laptop (which died after 2 years). It camed with the laptop and saw it on Microsoft Games. Played it -> Loved IT -> Wanted to see the ending! However, I didn't had a credit card to purchase something on internet. So, Office Max was my friend and saw it on the PC Game Isle:D

This happed in the late 2007 (july/august). Joined Disco around November 2007.

A few days after it came out. My first server was the called "Boston Server" in which I ran a weapons dealer.

Freelancer - Oxslow - 02-26-2011

I got the game 2 days before it was released in the UK. After playing the demo with a friends loads and think NY was massive. He only showed it to me because I liked elite and so did he.

My first server was Jolt UK where I come and go. Eventually I came across a player called Anvil after he saw me trading day after day by my self. I then got asked to join a clan called KoF. So I joined KoF and had some great times with them flying in massive convoys in the evenings. Chakota, Vayls, Jack, Ichtan, Anvil NVFM are just some of the players I remember from the clan.

During the afternoon I remember having endless pew pew sessions with Dark Pand0r. He taught me so much in pvp which I have forgotten most it now.

When KoF decided to play on Hamburg city I stayed where I was on Jolt and had some great times with Zap and Kaze.

The thing that made freelancer for me was when i found out about the teamspeak server for jolt.It made the game some much more to me being able to talk to like minded people playing a game i loved.

After Jolt shut down:(. I feel out of freelancer for a while. Then 1 for a reason I don't remember I found Disco and KoF had move there so I joined them again. Flying with them in the evenings. during the day flying around with the teamspeak crowd. After I moved to a place with no internet I did not play freelancer up until a few weeks ago and it is great to have my fix back.

I also forgot my first pvp. On Jolt it was considered bad form to regenerate your shield or hull. Which I done against a player called Torch she was a admin on the server and decided to shot bits and pieces off my ship for regening against her when I realized I had hardly anything left on my ship and no bots or bats left i docked. Which meant I lost the stuff I had on the ship instead of it coming back after I died.

After all this she realized I was new and helped me get set up again and pointed me in the direction of the forums.

Sorry if I have missed any names out my memory is not what it used to be.

(This has been a great trip for me down memory lane.)

Three years ago, like, the year before I joined in march, before .85 beta 4 died for me.

My dad got it for 5 US dollars.

Freelancer - Zukeenee - 02-27-2011

Well, let's see, what does my join date say? March '06? Yeah, that's probably about right.

I had just been over to a friend's house (some of you know/knew this guy as Kane) and watched him play an interesting spaceship-game-thing. I found it interesting. He offered to bring his disc over and install it on my machine next time he was in my area, so I said sure. I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to get an interesting-looking game for free.

So he installed it, and then he installed some mod so that I wouldn't need the disc to play (it was his disc, and he wasn't just going to give that to me). Turned out that mod was Discovery 4.7-something. He also encouraged me to sign up for the forums that were related to the mod.

My very first days of Freelancer were also my very first days of Disco.

So yeah, I've had it almost 5 years now. And yes, in that time, I bought my own disc when I found it at some electronics store for ten bucks.

Since the month before 4.85 came out.

Freelancer - DodgeOld24 - 02-27-2011

I've been playing it for about 3.5 years now. I never hear anything about good games like this coming on, same with Red Faction Guerilla which is, along with freelancer, my favorite game. Got that a year after release..
