Mercs - Dusty Lens - 03-05-2011 ' Wrote:I'd say it makes you more of a mistress than a whore, actually. A mistress is generally characterized as a woman engaged in an extramarital affair. But, semantics aside, naturally the Reavers have to look after their reputation as it's not a difficult to eff yourself out of a job. Doesn't stop me from rejecting Dieter's declaration. But I see a mercenary as something a tad more fluid. Affiliation to the money, not to the politics. The two are ultimately inseperable when dealing with factions with political as well as financial clout. But I think that you're stating that... Well I don't even know. But I'll make a guess. But we've changed our affiliations plenty of times. Folk who've hated us now hire us. Folk who loved us now hate us. We imagine it'll change again. Mercs - Garrett Jax - 03-05-2011 A Mercenary should be viewed much like a hammer is viewed by a finish carpenter--an effective tool to get the job done. Any animosity shown toward the mercenary is really misplaced. He is simply being the tool (no jokes here) wielded by the one placing the bounty. If you want to direct your anger at the proper place, look to the originator of the bounty and maybe find a couple 'tools' that you can use yourself. I wish Disco would discover (harhar) that nothing in the world is more fun than stealing the other guy's hammer and beating him to death with it. Mercs - SA_Scavenger - 03-05-2011 Well mercenaries I think can work for specific sides. Sometimes to keep a constant flow of credits means having to solidify your position with certain factions and people. And when I meant consequences, I simply meant being able to take revenge on a fallen faction member, or even one of your own characters if necessary. Still getting used to all the role-play done on disco. Which basically means having to ask questions from time to time. Thank you for the responses. If you have anything more to add, feel free to do so. However, I think I have obtained the required information that I wanted. To be honest, I think the memories of the groups and factions in this videogame are a lot less shorter than they would be in a "real" Sirius. Monday : "Hey you, dinn'ya kill me brother." Wednesday : "We good, cinn'ya shoot someone fur meh?" I think it comes down to hating the other guy more than they hate us. Not like they're inviting us in for a home cooked meal and a go at the 'ol missus. Mercs - Chev - 03-05-2011 Love them is Star Wars (and some other universes). Hate them in Freelancer. You'll ask me why? Because they rarely are true mercenaries here. Mostly, they're some kind of alternative to Freelancer ID. Merc is supposed to be a bad guy for hire. Not the one who hunts pirates, but one who works for them. He should be unshaved cool guy with deep voice and cigar in his mouth (oh, and don't forget minigun). I remember, when I was on my Bounty Hunter I were killed by Merc. I liked it. Because -that- Mercenary know how to do his job. He knows in which side of law he is supposed to be. |
