Collision damage - ... kur nubÄ—go? - 03-10-2011 ' Wrote:I remember how frustrating the cruise drain thing was at first. Then people learned to adapt and modify the way they do things. Now, I don't even think about it anymore. Although a few adjustments are probably in order, I wonder if this may be something people need to get used to. Imagine 4 people on one guys tail. They ram each other time to time.. they ram each other to zero bots. Oh you say what a nice new flying tactic preventing from too much people sitting on your arse, is it? Or isn't? Fighter fights will take even longer if no more than 2 people will be able to sit on one guys tail. Nope this is not something to get used to. Is it possible to adjust ram damage according to diffrence of mass and speed between the ships? would solve all sorts of problems. Collision damage - Tommeh - 03-10-2011 Also maybe to take hull damage only if your shields are down, it's a bit silly that you are taking hull damage ignoring shields like it' some radiation, and not physical damage created by two ships bumping each other. Anyway, it needs some adjustments, damage is to high for small bumps. Collision damage - Cannon - 03-10-2011 After observing it for a couple of days, I'm tending towards 'curse' rather than good thing. The good bits: - a fighter/bomber taking damage when intentionally ramming a cap is okay. Getting close to SN a big ship and then accidentally ramming is problematic but this is probably tolerable. The bad bits: - fighters/bombers ramming each other is problematic; you have in effect a large reasonably fast player controlled missile. - running into ships on exit from tradelanes and similar situations. - "My Togo rammed an Osiris at 60% hull and insta-killed it" is bad. NPC collisions shouldn't be doing damage. Can someone confirm if they are? I'll make a few more changes but I'm not that confident that they'll be good enough. Quote:Its really hilarious actually, Cruise drain got topics like this and polls showing people wanted it dead but nothing happened. I feel you guys are just talking to a wall...Cam, it's only your opinion I ignore. Collision damage - Enoch - 03-10-2011 Quote:NPC collisions shouldn't be doing damage. Can someone confirm if they are?I confirm they do. Edit : Fighter vs Fighter NPC, they do. Don't know about the rest. Collision damage - Camtheman - 03-10-2011 Quote:Edit : Fighter vs Fighter NPC, they do. Don't know about the rest. I rammed into 3 Zoner Eagle NPC's full cruise speed in my juggy and none of us took damage, so I guess that means no. Quote:Cam, it's only your opinion I ignore. Lovely way to progress, instead of opening a referendum on it. Collision damage - Decerebrated.Individual - 03-10-2011 Oh! Oh! Cannon! *jumps up and down* How do you calculate the damage by collision? How do you calculate the rotation and displacement vector after collision? Collision damage - Akura - 03-10-2011 ' Wrote:- "My Togo rammed an Osiris at 60% hull and insta-killed it" is bad. I think it's to do with how Vanilla ships take damage. The Togo is part of Disco, the Osiris was vanilla, and when the Osiris and I collided, both of us without shields and about 60% hull, he instantly popped for no reason due to collision damage. I've also used a Challenger in thrust to kill Sabres and Templars without even engaging. However, ramming an AI Drone did nothing. After some study, it seems that the collision damage to Vanilla ships or ships using Vanilla models and fuses tend to have some really buggy deaths. Collision damage - Enoch - 03-10-2011 Speed doesn't change collision damage, Cam. Collision damage - Camtheman - 03-10-2011 Really? Well that's lulzy. What was the point of this anyways? To buff caps somehow? You know I'd usually be for this but... I think bombers ramming is more tolerable than this... If its causing this many problems why not remove it? The vanilla ship thing is probably their components like wings and such, that tends to cause problems. Unless they were all welded together like was planned in versions past. Collision damage - Akura - 03-10-2011 Because if tweaked... it can be something beautiful... I'm personally loving it. Always something new and interesting to take into consideration. |
