For the record in 4.83
- all vanilla fighters (Guardian, Avenger, Templar, Wrath, Eagle, Titan, Chimaera, BD VHF) died to 1 Nuke, 1 Sunslayer or 2 Cannonballs
- the above vulnerability resulted in extremely large part of server population flying Raven's Talon (had something like current Wrath agility back then)
- Nomad Blasters/Cannons were used also by just about everyone
- every gun bare Kraken, Buckshot and Tizona had much worse stats than now (500 m/s speed on plasmas, ca -20% damage on all guns)
=> Standard battle was NovaPG(Dragon faction) in RTs with Tizonas and Nomad Blasters mounted attacking Corsairs (also in RTs) in Gamma
- Nomad thruster was the best so it was used by every fighter on server
- all high-end fighter gear (mk 8 armor, lvl 10 shields, best thruster..) was only available in what's currently called Omicron Kappa, so setting up a new fighter anywhere in sirius ment having to fly to Kappa to get the gear
- BS(and cruiser) flaks could insta-kill just about any fighter, but had to be detonated by CD (which BS had then)
- there were only 2 bombers in game RH bomber (with 145 bats/bots) and Taiidan Bomber (HW model)
- Supernova did some 36k damage per shot and used 8000 energy, it could be mounted an used on any fighter with a torp slot, bombers could mount 2 so they could 1-2 instakill fighters
- Raven Claw was an LSF ship per infocard but was sold on Junker base in o-15 and the RHA when it started was flying these quite often
- the most used traderoute in game was prisoners between planet Harris and Battleship Mcduff (in orbit of the planet), one run took under a minute and gave you about 1.5 million credits (using the biggest transport there was - Large Train with 4500 cargo). This rather labor-instensive yet extremely boring trade run result huge group of constantly bored people talking and arguing about just about anything in system chat in Tau31.

I would love to see 4.83,but alas 80% of the current player base has never seen it,and would not know the rules(lack of) and admins would be spammed with millions of sanction reports.
Would be tons of "you can't use that set-up yelled in space,and you are out of your ZOI.

This was what I mostly remembered from 4.83. Flying on a GC Raven's Talon with Tizonas and Nomad Cannons.
Shooting up underpowered Nyxes (Viper) that got insta-killed by a Mini Razor.
You can even see Panzer there, and I remember every fight with the =BSG= was a fun one. Always a "good fight" message at the end no matter how many times they lost or won - it wasn't really relevant. And when it came to Panzer, he personally treated me pretty nicely back then regardless if our two characters were hostile to each other. Now I feel every battle is a personal one and I'm very convinced it's the fault of the community for shaping his attitude rather than himself. I feel that the changed atmosphere have changed my attitude as well.
Of course back then we had our fair share of drama but when I recall it, it wasn't nearly as frequent as now. Most of the time you could just fly around and do whatever you wanted and people would try to play along. Now, you can't even so much as fire a counter-measure without explaining your character's life-story.
Some say this change is for the better, that the Role-Play is more serious now, but the side-effects has something to say for itself as well. If you want my honest opinion, I'm very glad I was a newbie back in 4.83 rather than coming in as a newbie now.
