Paladin or Templar? - FallenKnight - 06-28-2011 If you want to try Bretonia again, then jump directly to the Templar. In time you will see its capable to do things other fighters cant. People may say its slow, and not agile, but after some hard training and proper moves, you will become a very hard target to be hit even if they are 4+. Once you get the Templar, you have to decide what kind of weapons you are going to use, because they will make your ship "weak" or "strong". If you like to joust and yet defend yourself get some 2.00 or 3.00 guns so you can still move around and not be an easy target. Splitters are great weapons but they need more time to aim on target and the damage you will do wont be that great unless you stay on target all the time, which is hard if opponent is flying an agile ship. You need to use mines too cuz templar is the one of the few ships, that can take full Nuke mine hit and yet stay on ~40% hull. Advantages of that ship are many, not to mention the energy core which is (15 000 not 12 400) from my POV, after some tests. The only disadvantage is the slow turning speed which makes this fine ship, "turtle" in the eyes of your enemies. Train hard with it and dont give up, you will find it a fine ship soon enough. If you need some training or refreshment of the laws in Bretonia, check Queen Carina's Academy , post 1. There you can find some manuals about ranking system in BAF and Diplomatic Handbook filled with anything you need to know about Bretonia. Paladin or Templar? - Charos - 06-28-2011 I agree with Fallen, Templar is a really good fighter in capable hands. As for Paladin, it's style is that of an artist. You must keep moving all the time when you're fighting someone that has a razor. Mount a Razor and 6 Adv. Splitters (If your aim is good) and you'll kill most from those who you'd encounter. Paladin or Templar? - Hidamari - 06-28-2011 I own a BPA) Commerce Control Division Clydesdale and just like Baconsoda said "aww a clydesdale.. how cute, no i wont be listening to you today" happened outside leeds, and this was a universal armour 8 royal liner. trying to run the embargo. so after a long and grueling fight, I killed him while he was docking on stokes even after his other liner friend came to help him. I fly all the ships bretonia has to offer, Hussar is a fantastic ship and easily my favourite and longest served of them all. and unlike some people, I think the Bretonian shipline is the best looking and most interesting one in the game. which is partially a downside because it means modellers cant just create *generic aircraft looking model* and say its bretonian, like you can do with mother other factions, so the bretonian shipline gets neglected. Hussar if flown right (and you know how to use mines) can easily defeat average and below skill level pilots in any fighter class, obviously the more skilled they are the harder time, and there are times when a 1 vs 1 with a hussar vs a heavier opponent is just not an option because the opponent is very skilled. as will all light fighters, your shield is your health bar, if you lose it you should be running around till it comes back, regardless if they moan or not. as with all light fighters, you are always on the verge of death, even at full health and bots bats. requires patience and concentration. Paladin is a good ship, and i much prefer using a paladin to fight chimeras than a templar (partly because im so used to light fighters) It has a good turn and movement reaction speed and 2 more guns of course, but it doesnt really have the core to support all its guns in this case. It is not as long as a hussar and also shorter too, but it is 2x as wide. the arcs on the weapons could also be in a more desireable location too. as heavy fighters go, its not so bad as everyone makes out. Templar is a nice ship. ive practically only just started to use this ship and it is the second vhf ive used in this mod, the first being the eagle. It is a beast and with a good set of 2.00's and a decent aim you can really dish out the damage, people claim the templar is underpowered, and even I myself once did, now i do not think this is true at all. it is a fantastic ship to fly, and with skillful flying, even nimble ships will be punished by your ability to tank them. it has an odly shaped hitbox too so if moving in a particular way you arent as easy to hit as its slow turning may suggest. from my limited experiance of the templar is that if you want a strong fighter for a bretonian character, pick this one. Paladin or Templar? - Swallow - 06-28-2011 wow Hidamari...just wow, your speech sparked enthusiasm inside me Paladin or Templar? - Dieter Schprokets - 06-28-2011 Templar. No other fighter exists. Paladin or Templar? - Azan27 - 06-28-2011 ' Wrote:Templar. Kinda hard to argue with that. I agree with Hidamari's and Fallenknight's assessment of the various ships, but would like to add that the Templar is very beginner friendly (for a VHF) and it's armor is big enough to keep you alive if you make a few wrong turns (as I often do). The paladin can be flown very well in combat situations, but it requires extensive knowledge of maneuverability and evasion tactics, and is very hard to be combat effective in while solo. On another note, welcome back to Bretonia. I hope to see you flying around in your lovely new ship, once you decide on one. Paladin or Templar? - Mao - 06-28-2011 Go with the Tie fighter. It's the best looking bretonian ship. Don't listen to all those guys. I only died in a Paladin to my own mines:P Paladin or Templar? - jammi - 06-28-2011 ' Wrote:To be honest, I would suggest a Clydesdale or a Hussar. Clydesdale fires 7 guns forward (I think), and the Hussar is the best LF in the mod (at least in my opinion). So, really, since you're adverse to the Hussar, I'd pick up a Commerce Control Division Clydesdale and laugh at traders who think "Oh, it's just a freighter, how cute."I'd somewhat agree with the Clydedale. Awesome ship - incredibly underrated. Cyber Dragon's review of it on the Wiki is wrong in so many ways. I get the feeling he didn't actually fly the ship for very long. ' Wrote:And are you saying there are Clydesdale Attack Wings?! I'm calling shenanigans there! Yes, yes there are. Go to the Bowex area and look up the thread titled "Clydesdale Brigade". Myself and 6 others have been utterly ruining pirates' days for over a month now. More than one has tried to extort us, to be met with a wall of tachyon flavoured death. Clydesdale Attack Wings are a very real thing, sah. :P Paladin or Templar? - Scott MacFarlane - 06-29-2011 ' Wrote:Myself and 6 others have been utterly ruining pirates' days for over a month now.
