just a little inquiry - Jinx - 07-26-2011 updated the model - since the shown model was just a modified conference GB ... here is a genuine one. ![]() just a little inquiry - Zukeenee - 07-26-2011 For your first question, I'd say that a freely available GB wouldn't hurt. A lot of people really seem to want an open-use gunship of some sort, and the Ahoudori just isn't "free" enough for them. I know it's been brought up that civilian ship manufacturers wouldn't create and/or sell a military-type ship, but honestly, I don't think we should really expect these sorts of things to make sense. In terms of mod-additions, in-RP sense-making seems to have been overlooked in favor of a few things that are just cool or popular. And I'm fine with that. You mentioned it would be somehow tied to Liberty, though? If it's going to have the same restrictions as the Ahoudori (being in the "Liberty Civilian" cell), then it's not exactly a "freely available" GB. I know it probably wouldn't be up to you if this thing were to get put in the mod, but what was your intention? Lib Civilian or pure Civilian? And the second question (which you've omitted, but I'll still attempt to answer), can we handle another Zoner ship? Good question. Even with your updated model, I'm still seeing some Conference in there, namely in the front/bridge area and in the engine/wing-things toward the middle. I think we could probably come up with a slightly different explanation for them though, because the Zoners seem to have designed so many other ships already. What if Liberty ship manufacturers built the ship by themselves, but used the frame of the Conference as inspiration? No Zoner shipbuilders involved, just a Zoner ship that they happened to find. Alright, maybe it's not the best explanation, but I think the Zoners have done enough for us in terms of ships. Let Liberty engineers have their time in the limelight. just a little inquiry - Lunaphase - 07-26-2011 havok 2, lib carrier, spyglass, osirus, upholder, executioner. All liberty designed. If anything id keep it as open market and not one of the house civilian lines, simply because the techchart is a bit off when it comes to that. Besides, a heaviy armored transport would be a viable product considering how many pirates there are, so this would fit in as a open-use ship similar to the renzu idea. Perhaps a zoner-inspired design built by a similar corp to renzu? just a little inquiry - Irwin - 07-27-2011 The ship looks a bit thin/flat to me. Perhaps some more bulk on the underside would make it look a bit more like a "Gunship" I understand it's intended to be light, but it just looks rather flimsy to me. Although, perhaps it isn't as flat as I think, could I see a size comparison with say, the BD GB? As for the whole "Zoner-Ship" thing, I'd say just use an idea similar to Renzu, make up a design company, or just exclude the name of the designer, and say it was designed by a civilian group intending to make a heavy defense ship for corporations. All in all, it's a pretty nice model, and a civ GB would be more than welcome by everyone I'd think. just a little inquiry - jammi - 07-27-2011 This still looks like a shrunk Jugganaught / Zoner carrier to me. I'm not really getting the Liberty vibe at all either - maybe a texture would change that? As I said, a drastic new direction for design may be in order. Try using traditional shapes, instead of your next-gen Zoner designs. The forward cannon is a cool idea though. That could work well. One thing that would be cool is a fixed axle gun with a rapid refire rate. You'd have to stay on target to hammer the enemy ship with this forward laser type thing to do above-average damage, or something. EDIT: Making this Liberty Civ would work too. Rheinland, Liberty and Kusari can use the Kusari Explorer. Bretonia, Kusari and Liberty can use this one. Either way, all the Houses can use at least one variant of civ gunboat. just a little inquiry - Echo 7-7 - 07-27-2011 ' Wrote:As for the whole "Zoner-Ship" thing, I'd say just use an idea similar to Renzu, make up a design company, or just exclude the name of the designer, and say it was designed by a civilian group intending to make a heavy defense ship for corporations. Why, thank you for asking - of course Ageira Technologies builds more than just the Havoc Bomber! We're less well known for our part in the assembly of the Patriot/Liberator LF and recently the purchase of rights to the Virage VHF; not to mention various subcomponents for a wide range of vessels. On a similar vein, you could have it built by DSE; but typically they construct very large ships like transports and liners. PS. About the Havoc re-work... would you get more inspiration if I paid you? |
