Actually, if you watch the extended intro you can see how the DK blew up the sun, after that everything went to hell. Yes, but it was cut because it didn't make any sense, so it is not canon. Do you want the returne of the Solar System? - Ingenious - 07-27-2011 ' Wrote:Nothing is left. This is really not true, even if the matter is particulate it would still be attracted toward the center of mass of the aggregate. Just because Sol is a graveyard doesn't mean it can't be a resource rich graveyard. There might be really interesting deposits of trace elements left over in a system whose stellar life is violently cut short. Sirian explorers only, of course, everyone else is dead. DK blew up the sun, Sol got destroyed. Igiss who is our master supported this version and thus it is destroyed. Deal with it. So if it wasn't canon in Freelancer it isn't canon in Discovery. Do you want the returne of the Solar System? - Gemini893 - 07-27-2011 I voted for it to be Dam K'vosh. IF it does get added there might have been a jump hole from nomad controlled space that made the journey to Sol easy for them. Perhaps they were preparing Sol for another breeding ground for the Nomads? Personally I agree that the system was destroyed. I don't know if the sun would even be a dwarf after being destroyed, but there would be mineral riches to be had. However, since Nomads can't mine (no tractor beams) it would take a brave soul to make their way there to mine the resources. That is, if humans ever find the jump hole. The whole idea does seem odd to me though, I don't remember how many light years Sirius is from Sol, or how long it took the sleeper ships to get to Sirius, but discovering a way back "home" would be just odd. I'm not sure how to process that kind of revelation for modern citizens of Sirius, more than 800 years after settling the sector. If you figure a generation takes about 20 years, that's 5 generations of families per 100, or almost 40 generations of people that would have no memory of what "home" was like. Sol would be akin to legend, folk-lore, or myth by this point in the history of Freelancer. I would think that many would believe that Sol never really existed. Igiss created Discovery, he confirmed that the extended into is canon for the Discovery mod. When it comes to why the extended intro was cut? The developers thought it gave too much away. Not because it didn't make sense but because they felt that introducing the baddy before you even play the game wasn't a good idea. Where'd this info come from? The FL bonus cd.
