Smuggling Vs Legal trading - Jwnantze - 03-12-2008 <- uses smuggler Id on secret smuggler, a hacker id on the hacker smuggler, and a OSC id on OSC trans.:) *pats self on back* Smuggling Vs Legal trading - kindred - 03-12-2008 I have a trading character with a trader ID and a smuggling character with a smuggler ID. Smuggling is more dangerous, complete cargo loss or a outrageous fine in house systems 5x that of a pirates tax. So yeah i'd like to see the profits of smuggling be equal to the risk. Smuggling Vs Legal trading - jammi - 03-12-2008 ' Wrote:Well I will stick to my point of view... Not true, you can have a Corsair tag, and a Corsair ID and fly a transport, 'cos the ID allows it. If you're in a transport with a Corsair ID you'll be insta-branded as a smuggler. Or is that a pirate. Ah well, I guess it don't matter seeing as lawfuls will always immedietly jump on the ID. Thats another question acctualy... With IDs like the Corsair and junker, you can fly transports, do you for the purpose of tax and not killing 'til you got tax or contraband count as a trader or a member of respective faction? Smuggling Vs Legal trading - Barbarian - 03-12-2008 ' Wrote:Yep smuggling routes through Rhienland should be the most profitable there can be... If only becasue of the risk involved.Currently there are NO smuggling routes through rheinland. unless you count smuggling ship components to mactan, which i got blown up for... aaaaanyways. Jammi, too many people with the "red is dead" attitude to do that. They will blow you out of the sky before they scan you. My liberty rogue smuggler knows this well. Smuggling Vs Legal trading - Lucend - 03-12-2008 Personally, how I handle any situation is with a little common sense. If I see a, say, Hacker ID'd transport, I'll still treat him as a trader, mostly because it's a little unfair to simply blow him out of the sky. (and also unprofitable) I usually associate Smugglers as unlawful and Traders as lawful. Therefore, if I see two transports with empty holds, or holds with legal goods in them, one of them is a Trader while the other is a Smuggler, I'll usually pirate the Trader and let the Smuggler go. Smuggling Vs Legal trading - Dopamino - 03-12-2008 Making smuggling more profitable would help a lot. - More people having to actively RP while they trade or scan traders - Outcasts and Corsairs can get the funds they need while being in RP - Smuggling and policing becomes more fun and more profitable at the same time. Smuggling Vs Legal trading - chopper - 03-13-2008 Quote:Using a Smuggler ID means it is plainly obvious to anyone scanning you what you are. It means lawfuls can attack you weather or not you have hot cargo. Bounty Hunters should be hunting Smugglers wherever they go and hauling them away to prisons in the lawful houses. But they don't even look for them because the way things are now you cant tell who is a smuggler unless they are packing contraband in their hold. While I do agree with Yngen that smuggling needs to get more dangerous if we want it to get more profitable, I can't agree with this. If I am a smuggler with empty cargo, there is no way in hell that someone should kill me. I mean, it would make smuggling almost impossible. How to make it more dangerous then? Well, I don't really know. I know that Pirates ask traders for tax, while lawfuls ask smugglers to drop cargo + pay the fine. So, it's already harder to smuggle then to trade. I also agree with Pipsqueak. If I wanted to smuggle Cardamine, I would smuggle with Trader ID and some Liberty corporation tag, and lawful ship. Then I would trade in Liberty (legal stuff) for some time, just enough so lawfuls remember me. Then I would switch to Cardi hoping not to be noticed. I would avoid populated areas of course, but at least it would help with lawfuls. They wouldn't wait for me on every single jump hole/gate. That is real smuggling. Flying a pirate train and mounting a smuggler ID is just advertising. And I see no real purpose in that. Didn't vote. I don't see a reason for Smuggler ID to exist at all. At least not while it's identical to the Trader ID. When they get their differences, I'll reconsider it. Smuggling Vs Legal trading - ParanoidAndroid - 03-13-2008 ' Wrote:[...] I'm not quite sure about your statement Quote:Pilot carrying this ID is a trader. Trader ID grants its owner right to trade, escort traders, hunt pirates and terrorists. Trader ID owner cannot participate in any unlawful actions or military operations, cannot fulfil bounty contracts. As far as I know smuggling is unlawful action so concluding from this, traders are not allowed to smuggle.. Or maybe I'm worng? I voted that it's fine how it looks now. In my modest opinion there is no need to change anyting in this matter. Smuggling Vs Legal trading - Barbarian - 03-13-2008 ' Wrote:I'm not quite sure about your statement Doesnt matter what the rules are if nobody does anything about them. So, will traders be reported/sanctioned for smuggling? will smugglers be reported/sanctioned for carrying legal goods? ponder that for a moment. Besides, other than RP purposes, smuggling is pointless as trading is safer and more profitable. My 2 cents. So here is your answer: Quote:Smuggler ID grants its owner right to trade and escort traders. In addition to that, the Smuggler ID indicated good reputation within the Sirius unlawful factions, and is commonly used to carry smuggled goods to and from pirate bases.I have noticed not first time that reading with understanding sometimes causes diverse problems.. To sum it up: trader can be sanctioned for smuggling, smuggler can't be sanctioned for trading, it's simple, and also it's rather obvious that noone will demand from a smuggler to run ONLY illegal goods whole the time. |
