Targeting Weapons - marauder - 03-17-2008 It doesn't work on the griffen, tested it with full bots, trying to blow a wing off to see if it lost any weps. No missiles, guns only and by the time you've blown one wing off the griffen is outta bots and practically dead. So yeah, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Targeting Weapons - mjolnir - 03-17-2008 we did some tests a week ago with Gronath... - A direct mini-razor hit on the Wing of a Wrath => it went only yellow.... - it took 6 cannonball hits targeted directly on the guns.. fired from below (so they hit just the guns).... to blow normal guns off... 3 more to blow Supernova off.. It depends a lot on what kind of ship you are targeting yes. ---- but nice application is blowing turrets off transports... or even better using nukes to do that..(they aim for the subtarget too) I once nuked off all 12 class 4 transport turrets on one Container transport... in my LF. They take 2-3 mines each.. but the ones that are close take damage also.. EDIT: I found the picture.. EDIT2: @Puck.. well you need 2-3 nukes .. or 1 nuke and 2-3 CBs to do that. Targeting Weapons - Ion - 03-17-2008 well... i wont give away my tactics... but lets just say i have had fun chasing a bomber that i had relieved of is guns, SN, shield and thruster... i think he still had bots left too Targeting Weapons - Jihadjoe - 03-17-2008 Hmm, somehow i seem to get my guns blown off without that much damage being done to my ship, is that particularly weird? Targeting Weapons - mjolnir - 03-17-2008 maybe not... as I said depends a lot on the ship you are flying. For example Slipstream loses guns all the time... to a few hits... Catamarans also... Targeting Weapons - aster - 03-17-2008 Post of total ignorance... When the guns get blown off do they appear floating around in space or are they just gone from the player's inventory? My guess is the latter otherwise it would be open to abuse... Targeting Weapons - mjolnir - 03-17-2008 Guns just disappear.. since they get destroyed... also players are set to non-lootable... so they don't ever drop mounted things.. only unmounted ones... which is actually a bit of a shame.... at least I think so :) Targeting Weapons - marauder - 03-17-2008 Its better then EVEs looting system. Only about 10% ever survives, mounted or unmounted and you can be damn sure all the best stuff goes 'poof'. So the next time you blow up a gun dealer and loot all his codenames, be grateful your not playing EVE, cos only a few guns would survive outta the dozens on it. Targeting Weapons - AdamantineFist - 03-18-2008 Heh, this trick can be fun against some of those incredibly annoying NPCs: just blow off the stupid thing's thruster and it becomes a sitting duck. Also, blowing their wings off can be great for disabling their weapons (depending on the ship. Titan, anyone?). I've never actually tried using this in PvP, though, so I don't know how well it works there. Targeting Weapons - Magoo! - 03-18-2008 Yeah... It's basically the same as shooting flak at a Kusari destroyer and watch it squirm after the first shot. Oh, thats always a good laugh. One flak shot and 50 million Kusari credits just got neutralized. |
