snub powercores - Jihadjoe - 02-09-2012 I really find this very amusing, when an 8.33 bayonet is still one of the most useful (verging on overpowered) ships in the game. Fact is, the size of the plant reflects the fact that heavy fighters if flown correctly, simply won't get hit, and can position themselves to effectively do damage in short bursts. snub powercores - Ursus - 02-09-2012 ' Wrote:Mounting 4 class 10 guns on HF will make it OP if it is with standard HF agility/size.Yeah that's why I said it is much harder problem. Even just 2 class-10 and it would be stupid. Maybe 1 class 10 on a 5-gun setup would work, but that is too specific for a class template. Quote:so nobody will fly VHFsWell I don't know about nobody, but people should have to think about choosing VHF. Right now it is default choice for everybody, it should actually be the heavy tank that people want to play for the ability to absorb and deal high amounts of damage. HF in the middle should be the default choice. I'm just thinking about it, kind of an interesting situation where the mod is structured around RPS classes but the fighters are not. snub powercores - dodike - 02-09-2012 It's no surprise to me that people choose the heaviest variant when the opposition often flies gunboats and bigger. snub powercores - Ursus - 02-09-2012 no snubcraft has to engage a gunboat or larger, 50 faster cruise speed just leave the area whenver you want. this goes for bombers too. now if you *want* to fight gunboats in a fighter, then VHF should be the natural choice. I don't know many who want to do it though. snub powercores - ProwlerPC - 02-09-2012 ' Wrote:now if you *want* to fight gunboats in a fighter, then VHF should be the natural choice. Haul like traders? snub powercores - dodike - 02-09-2012 ' Wrote:no snubcraft has to engage a gunboat or larger, 50 faster cruise speed just leave the area whenver you want. this goes for bombers too. It's not really up to me to decide what the opposition brings into the fight. Also the scenario you described looks like you are talking about 1v1 encounters, which works in theory but not in practise. snub powercores - Ursus - 02-09-2012 ' Wrote:but if GBs aren't meant to counter Snubs, what are they supposed to do? Haul like traders? They are good at defending targets from snubs who want to attack the target. ' Wrote:Also the scenario you described looks like you are talking about 1v1 encounters, which works in theory but not in practise.I would say about half the solo pirate bombers I fight in one of my gunboats just up and leave when they figure out they are losing If there is more than one bomber they will usually kill the gunboat then continue having their way with the target. snub powercores - 1tempus1 - 02-12-2012 And what about raising of the level that lower gun slot? Example: LF 2x lvl 8 weapon 2x lvl 9 weapon ability to mount lvl 10 will ruin balance (probably) but ability to mount lvl 9 weaps instead of lvl 8 isn't that big. Same goes for HF. Correct me if i am mistaken. snub powercores - Aingar - 02-12-2012 Tempus, not sure if you meant it or I don't understand your formatting, but the current setup for LFs is 2x8class, 2x9class weapons snub powercores - Loken - 02-12-2012 I don't really get what you're complaining about. You seem to have a lack of understanding of fighters rather than a genuine issue. |
