If I may make a suggestion: try a bit lighter hue for the blue and red.
I think it's masking some of the details this dark.

Nah. There isn't much of a competition going on.
The habitual sig-makers are by default better at it.

Nothing concrete yet. So far I'm digging Anomander's V2 set, but I'll leave it up for a day or so before I come to a decision.
