Maybe your reading the wrong server as I don't think there ever was a 4.72.3. the lowest was 4.75 (or 4.74?). Try using the IP address (easy if you have Xfire)
IP: 207.192.196.50:2302
Just add the -s207.192.196.50:2302 to the end of the target box after it shows the location of the actual game.
For example my shortcut reads as "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -s207.192.196.50:2302
