What, 41 mio's per GBlade isn't the sky?

I've heard of aggressive market competition, but what you did is lulzy.

My vote here

I don't think this is going to work out, since it doesn't offer as much player interaction as code-dealing does.

+1

The codename market, as it is currently, is a joke. It's a seller's market, a.k.a. "bend over and think warm thoughts." And by "sellers" I mean people who are able to be on the server at reboot time +20 seconds with a CSV parked in space 1.5k away. (Which, I might add, is about as OORP as you can get.)

It'd be different if they added some value to the gun they're selling... but they don't. I'd rather spend 2 hours NPC grinding for a codie than spend 2 hours in a transport just to make some guy richer.

Added value? If I want codes I just call Cody, fly my ship to Norfolk and I'm set to go. I'd rather buy from Cody than to spend hours to get a wreck first or chase NPCs for hours.

Code dealers save me hours of grinding for codes. So ye, I make them richer because they make me richer too. It's called a trade.

Which I am perfectly fine with. Something as rare as a codename is (or should be, at least) deserves quite the hefty price tag.

Neat idea.

How about this though? Remove codenames from wrecks, and make codenames on player ships drop (just like any cargo the person has) when they die. They lose the codenames, and someone else picks them up.

It would make codenames less desirable, which would reduce the demand of them, which in turn would deflate the price on them, while keeping them rare.

If by deflate the price you mean make them utterly worthless then sure.

They would maintain a certain level of worth, just because of the rarity of them (note me saying to disable the codename wrecks).

There will always be people who will want them.

My only true issue with the actual code market is how one can uphold a monopoly and smack down all the competition, while still raising their prices. It just doesn't seem healthy.
