This reminds me of my old project of making Freelancer work with dual joy sticks. Worked alright but not perfect.
This is a cool setup either way. Hard panels are great. If I had more time I'd make one myself!

I have a working plugin for FL that maps joystick input so you can actually use joystick in addition to your mouse and keyboard.
It synths mouse and keyboard messages but with your joystick.

Nope, the physical controls you use to fly your ship aren't part of the rules.
I'd love to be able to map my Saitek ST330 so that it would work with FL, but it just doesn't want to know.

Given the nature of the FL control scheme it always came up second rate in combat.
