NPC Factions and RP factions. - AdamantineFist - 05-26-2008 The whole Jupiter Guild player faction uses the Zoner tag, don't they? And they're mercs. I think that's alright. NPC Factions and RP factions. - Eppy - 05-26-2008 ...wow. Bud, I wouldn't have even bothered talking to you. I'd have run you out of town with every ship in the system. I think that's alright. That's what I'm figuring out sort of, the merc tag is more of like the "jack-of-all trades" while other tag id's are more restrictive to npc factions (pirate ID=rogues or corsairs or outcasts, etc. Police tag=house police, maybe military) ' Wrote:...wow.*Points up to previous posts* Constructive feedback please, "Bud". NPC Factions and RP factions. - Robert.Fitzgerald - 05-26-2008 Just one little thing LoneTiger, there is a big difference between tag and ID. Tag refers to the NPC affiliation next to a players name. Often named the IFF system. This refers to "who" the character is (with). The ID tells other players what the character is. So a mercenary with an Outcast tag would be: a mercenary who has a strong friendship/business relationship with the Outcasts. Keep those in mind, ships and weapons are quite similar to the tag. While an outcast may eventually acquire a Spatial, fellow outcasts probably would not trust him. He is using an enemy ship, so there's the issue of pride there. Many factions use their own ships as they believe they are supremely crafted and designed. NPC Factions and RP factions. - Treewyrm - 05-26-2008 Heh. Sorry for breaking into. Let me tell of my example. I had (still have) outcast mercenary character. Wrote a short story for him, and then played it in-game, came to Alpha on bounty hunter ship seeking shelter from former guild mates (a set up in story took place). After some roleplay done, doing missions and slowly gaining trust I switched over to Sabre and was done with it. Character was set up and assisted both 101st and RoS several times as a mercenary. Everything was explained, all being written down, played to the letter and nobody it seems had a problem with that. Why people can't do the same then instead of going completely odd ways and raising unnecessary controversy on forums? Mercenary ID is not carte blanche to use whatever you desire sticking to whichever side. Not at all. It's quite restricted one when played properly, problem being is that it requires self-control and understanding of boundaries as to where your roleplay, equipment and ship choice can go and where they cannot. Kudos for that, and see you in space! Oh yeah, if you need story help, feel free to bounce it off me. I luuurve a good story. NPC Factions and RP factions. - LoneTiger - 05-27-2008 ' Wrote:Just one little thing LoneTiger, there is a big difference between tag and ID.Thanks, I kept confusing tag and id. This is what I sort of understood, that the ID shows what you really are, while the TAG shows your affiliation, this system I like quite a lot, because allows a lot of roleplay possibilities, now I won't deny that if I just wanted to play the game could just switch to an outcast ID and be done with it, but using the roleplay aspect is the best to enjoy an rp scenario:)Thanks for the info.
