I need to point out.. the best VHF in vanilla freelancer was the Hammerhead. It could chew Eagles, Sabres & Titans up with no real problems.

DO NOT figure equipment setup, then make a story around it. BAD.
What role do you want to play? If you are a Freelancer, you should be using Civilian and Zoner guns.

Yeah Mb2 thats kinda true, though not many people like it since its guns are kerplawh. Though with some Adv. Debs and Buckshots in Disco its a real killer.
As for Nomads, they are not all that good anymore as they use a rather largish amount of power...
And Zoner guns are rather good when it comes to Class 9s.

I have to take back what I said about the Werewolf I remembered it as being a good very heavy fighter and I won my first pvp in one but I bought one a few days ago and it was a lot worse than I recalled I even had bombers outurning me.
On the bright side I now have a Rogue with a Greyhound which seem's a lot nicer to fly I was always curious about that ship.

Well i have to say, i have flown almost every fighter in the game, minus a few i know sucked. All have good,and bad abilities. What you need to realise is, a good pilot in a bad fighter, will beat a bad pilot in a good fighter anyday of the week. My advice is try them all,and see which 1 suit's your fighting style the most. Just remember to RP the char. Hell i have even beaten several fighter's in my bomber 1 on 1. Just learn the trick's to fly each ship the way it was intended, and know it's weak spot's.

Personally i like the Sabre over the Eagle and the Titan, even if it has a smaller powerplant compared to other VHFs, the increased maneuverability and smaller hitbox, definitely compensate it, there is nothing like a good Sabre with 4 Krakens 2 and 2 Cannonballs and an Inferno cannon. Of course it would have to be an Outcast char to use that weapon setup.

I don't know much about the ships at all.
But what I do know is that my Manta is great, as a freelancer, I am aware I really shouldn't be flying it, as it is a bounty hunter ship, but also as a freelancer, techincally I should be allowed to use what ever is at my disposal. I have it setup with 3 Splitters a Buckshot and 2 Catapult missiles, seems to do the jobs it needs to do and a Luger turret type B, also I know this is a Bundschuh weapon, but it is a trophy of my first Bundschuh death by my hands.
And a quick wquestion, does anyone think my Missiles are a waste of time? or is it maybe just me? I find them handy in Jouting situations, but pointless in every other situation

Sovereign is right here. It's much better to fit your role first, then figure out what you're going to use. This doesn't have be done in forum RP, but just fly around figure out what you want to do. After that, set yourself up and do it.
Also, Freelancers have to consider who they will be working for. If you're friendly to Liberty, you can use some Liberty guns, if you're a Kusari, go ahead and use Disinfectors, it all depends on what you're doing in the character.
