Also, I keep mine short because I rock climb a lot. It's really annoying to do if your finger nails stick out at all. Once I forgot to trim them and you could just hear my fingernails scrape down the side of the wall... like a chalkboard. Because the wall is covered in chalk...

Long fingernails tend to look VERY unprofessional unless they're trimmed, filed, and kept looking neat. Half a cm really isn't that long in the grand scheme of things.

I used to have long fingernails but only on my right arm...It was for playing my guitar but I still found it a bit annoying, not to mention breaking half of them during a basketball match...

Pretty much the opposite. I incessantly bite them as a bad habit, which has its pros and cons. They can't break (obviously) and my fingers are generally quite resistant, but it's not really aesthetically appealing.
