RE: B**tard an acceptable insult used in in-game rp alot yet... - Divine - 04-10-2013 Get your filter fixed already. Might be understandable you block various words from broadcasted into system/local chat, yet your beloved filter also blocks those in group and private chat. It's actually not up to you to decide what the frakk I post in group chat if everyone in there is fine with it, so stop being such an overreactive lot and best remove this filter altogether. Jeez, lost count on how often this stupid thing kicked me out of game by now. Also posting in a Blackwidow thread. Edit: Don't get me wrong here, nothing against having that filter in place, just lift the group and private chats from it. Also, if you've a filter that's blocking your whole message and not just replacing a word, might be cool to actually have a list of words I cannot use. It's more annoying to've to type whole sentences again, just because I first haven't thought that a specific word might be catched by the filter. Also editing in a Blackwidow thread. RE: B**tard an acceptable insult used in in-game rp alot yet... - Marburg - 04-10-2013 Actually, it is totally up to them what you post in group chat, regardless of who in a small circle are fine with it. that's the reality of it all. it's completely irrelevant if some such as yourself dislike it. Rules in general are adaptable & changeable as needed, but your need to be filterless is simply not good enough. Period. If/when you run a server of your own, you can make the rules that make you happy...till then, whah. Also...If the sever filter keeps booting you off to the point where you lost count, that's no one's fault but your own for being either unable or unwilling to learn from your past mistakes. ::edit to reply to your edit- I'll bet actual money there will be no lifting of the restrictions in group & private chat, so wipe that pipe dream from your thoughts. the forum as a whole couldn't handle that privilege without ruining it & making a habit of bleeding it public:: RE: B**tard an acceptable insult used in in-game rp alot yet... - Divine - 04-10-2013 Yay! a filter. As if someone not already pointed out in this thread that I still can write stuff that's kicking off anything beyond any limits not being catched by the filter and you're getting all over with various words. If not used ooc in any way, such a filter is always a stupid idea of some people thinking there's a need for it for whatever reason they come up with the moment one asks for it. But you're right, it's not my server, that's not my rules and I actually started making a list of words that are catched by the filter. It's still stupid though, but alas... do as you like, if you feel you need a filter, so be it. [random insult on being sissy about words] Also another post in a Blackwidow thread. RE: B**tard an acceptable insult used in in-game rp alot yet... - Loken - 04-10-2013 I'm fairly certain that the swear filter doesn't apply to group chat, you can say what you want there but if someone asks you to watch your language then you do it. The reason it applies to private messages is to avoid all the lovely messages people like to send after they've been killed. Personally I have no problems with people using the word bastard inRP (I've done it myself). I'm of the opinion that you can say what you like to one another within roleplay as long as it's kept within reason and Dusty's example of George Carlin's big seven is probably a good place to start (although certainly not a definitive list and don't take this post as the law by any means). Once these things start getting tossed between players rather than characters, that's where it becomes an issue. Just I'd not had an issue with it in the first place, if filter wouldn't apply to group chat too. Think to remember I was already kicked by the filter for that, though will test that today again, might be wrong. RE: B**tard an acceptable insult used in in-game rp alot yet... - Pancakes - 04-11-2013 I see the whole "don't swear" rule as a rather civiliaized manner rule than something about kids (cuz seriously, what kid above the age 6 don't know words like these nowdays anyway?). Also, subtle trolling is way more fun. RE: B**tard an acceptable insult used in in-game rp alot yet... - jammi - 04-11-2013 To be honest, I'd be happy with a rule that states, "if you can find it in the game, you can use the word", then allowing the infocards to get a bit more fruity as a guideline for .87 RE: B**tard an acceptable insult used in in-game rp alot yet... - GrĂ¼nder Industries - 04-11-2013 I saw in many Teen or 12 Year rated Games, the word bastard. Examples: TES Obilivion Morrowind Ace Combat Age of Empires..etc. RE: B**tard an acceptable insult used in in-game rp alot yet... - lIceColon - 04-11-2013 Like the guy says: (04-10-2013, 01:12 AM)sindroms Wrote: Freelancer is rated T by ESRB From the official ESRB website: ESRB website Wrote:TEEN RE: B**tard an acceptable insult used in in-game rp alot yet... - SMGSterlin - 04-11-2013 The "the game's rated -X-" argument is invalid. Sure, the game is rated that, but individual servers have the right to limit what is allowed on their servers to whatever ESRB rating they like. A server owner for Grand Theft Auto has the right to restrict things on his server to the point that it's an "E" environment, safe for 6 year olds. |
