He said that because there are a lot of people who are looking at him to become an admin, that's all.
And the requirement "applicant must be willing to give up faction leadership in order to become an unbiased admin" is probably going to turn away a lot of the potential admins.. not saying it should be removed, but that's what I have to say.

Agreed with Captainpoo. I know for myself, did I become an admin, which at this time I don't really have a desire to, it would require the RP deaths of 80% of my chars. A real sticker, since those are all a part of the overstory I write.

Well, the roles are perfectly understandable to want kept seperate. Leaders even GOOD leaders are gonna have SOME bias...Then again, wouldn't a grunt too? So it can be fine line. Power itself and the wisdom to know the times to weild and when not to are not always piled into the same package. They want to avoid that, I respect the restriction.

What I don't understand is:
Requirements to become an admin ask to give up faction leaders ship, Otherwise they will be biased.
Problem is,,,more than half of the admin team are faction leaders. So this Means that half our admin Team is Biased???:blink:

Not a one. They might all or some be IN groups, but not leaders of them.

After reading the following post I agree. However, as all of the names are Admin and Leaders, if inactive leaders counts...I stand corrected, I wasn't counting them as I haven't seen any in game in well....long enough to forget...heh. My appologies.

Hmm, I know only about Jessi, but Angels don't count, I guess...
Then Hoodlum, right, but he seems to be gone.
Hmm, then Kane, but I guess he's not active as the leader of the Phantoms as well, anyone saw him ingame lately?
And then me, I never officially stepped down from TBH leadership, but then I am not a full admin myself, I just take care of the server. I am also pretty much inactive speaking of TBH and not sure if I ever become active ingame again.
Inactivity and lack of time is the real problem of the admin team.
I don't know, stepping down from a faction leadership doesn't guarantee 100% 'unbiasness' (not sure about that word) and being and admin while keeping faction leadership doesn't automatically mean one is going to be biased. Up to you, explain it in the application if you don't agree with that rule...

The only problem with self nomination is that the best potential admins are (probably) not going to be applying for the posts.
There's some famous quote about reluctant leaders somewhere, but I'm too lazy to go find it.
I personally think the best way forward is for the current team to choose their own candidates, as they currently do, and then sounding those folks out. Maybe asking for nominations every now and then, or applications even.
I've never had any worries about the new admins that have been appointed while I've been here. They've all proven themselves to be fair and level headed.
I don't think faction leadership is any more of an issue than faction membership either. No-one suitable for an admin position would put their own faction first anyway.
