Exactly. The lore makes no sense for what happens game mechanic wise, and is not actually related to it. That's the entire premise of my point. EDIT: I feel like that was oddly worded. However, BMM keep working hard like sir, manufacturing new ships, restoring and repairing damaged one, so they could be back into service shortly. So, having few more battleship, it's about to be ok to Bretonia, which is still stronger than Zoners.... I was about to comment on this once I've read the rest of the posts, but then I came across Echo's reply... (09-03-2013, 02:25 PM)Echo 7-7 Wrote: The Council did not steal the blueprints to the Valor. Far from it. The Council's main warships are stolen or captured, but mostly captained by defectors from the GRN. Council ships are in fact older than their closest GRN counterparts, who have notable technological superiority. Additionally, the Council has control of an entire Gallic system locked down as a veritable fortress; due to the ultra-high military industrialisation of the house this provides them with significant facilities that the GRN still struggles to crack. Summed up quite accurately, I will only add a few things to it:
Champagne... the system holds approximately 30-35 Redemptions with cruiser and snubcraft support accordingly, surrounded by approximately 50 Valors in the nearby systems to keep us at bay. Numbers might be high for a mere paramilitary organization but that front is at a stalemate, nobody can do anything there, the Council cannot use that force as it is assigned to defend Champagne. Should we try some bigger offensive involving caps taken away from the defense, the GRN would immediately exploit that weak spot and slaugther half of the Council in no time. Roussillon... well, we got like 5 Redemptions in there at max, a dozen (or one and a half) of cruisers, lot of gunboats and snubcraft support, not something which would be capable to protect the system from a full scale GRN assault. Thus the system relies on mostly it's secrecy. Mass production? We can only dream about it while even struggling with maintaining our ships. If a GRN captain defects successfully, we rejoice. A loss of a cruiser in Council can be felt heavier than in e.g. the LN. That's our lore. Now, do you see Council caps roaming around all Sirius? Nah, this issue was here before PoBs. I'm not sure there is even one for the Persephone. Other than maybe the ships infocard? Which, I really wouldn't consider lore. Ship was added without the normal SRP/unique ship process. The story around it was lacking then, but I hear/guess that Jinx may have tried to build it up to justify the ship past him being a developer and having a toy for himself. RE: Proposal: Remove Battleships from the Zoner ID. - Thyrzul - 09-03-2013 Hey, can the Council find a supersized Rapture for themselves from beneath the surface of Toulouse? (Advent ships seem to be popular) RE: Proposal: Remove Battleships from the Zoner ID. - Lonely_Ghost - 09-04-2013 (09-03-2013, 11:37 PM)Thyrzul Wrote: Hey, can the Council find a supersized Rapture for themselves from beneath the surface of Toulouse? I've never actually noticed the similarities before. I should do a Persephone remodel, because, y'know, import purge. But that's just my taste. RE: Proposal: Remove Battleships from the Zoner ID. - Sabru - 09-04-2013 to jump sideways, i think the TEC's Akkan class Battlecruiser would be appropriate for any replacement of the Juggie (IF an import exception was made for it). Cause the Akkans are refitted colony ships with biodomes, heavy armor but only modest firepower for defence. Sounds much like the lore role of the Neph. Possible Juggy Replacement |
